Such a relief to win but the second half was pretty turgid. Goalmouth action at the Kop end (where I sit) seems to be a rare treasure these days.

Faes is starting to look like the real deal at the back. Tielemans looked more bothered than of late and hit some lovely passes. Ward for once looked solid. And Praet provided some spark on the right. Even Rodgers earned credit for bringing on Mendy and Daka for Soumare and Vardy, who were both guilty of repeatedly giving the ball away… but then spoiled it by reverting to type and bringing on Perez who, as usual, was even more wasteful in possession.

We have to build on this. Another away defeat on Sunday and it’s back to square one again.

They didn't create a clear cut chance.

If they had, and looked threatening, why would their own fans turn on them?

You can lose 3-0 but look threatening and accept it wasn't your day.

You don't turn on your own team if they look good but get sucker punched.

They were shite.

We weren't a great deal better.

But we've now kept 3 clean sheets in a row at home. Maybe more by luck than judgement, but do that and you get points.

They had one speculative shot that hit the bar. That's it.

Even when Ward made a good save at his near post, if you look at the replays, it probably would've been bought back for offside.

They didn’t create a clear cut chance?

They hit the bar through good play, constantly came forward at pace and looked a threat.

Scoreline flattered us massively at half time.

You can only play what's infront of you but **** me Leeds were awful.

Unfortunately, that papers over craters once again, that gives him another month, atleast, and probably beyond the WC.

Out of interest, say Top sacked Rodgers in the summer after he (hopefully) kept us up, then gave a brand new manager a warchest (say 80-100m after existing player departures) to rebuild the side, how would you feel?

Because for as risky as it sounds, that's what I think the plan is. It might not be possible to get the preffered man in now, neither financially nor because they are available.

They hit the bar from a speculative shot from outside the box. They never looked like scoring

Main pluses are Ward having probably his best game for us, the fact Faes looks like everything we needed in that back line, and the fact there are still blatantly a few dross sides like Leeds in the league that we can gun for. This squad has absolutely no business finishing below them or Forest.

Great performance at last, though everyone worked there socks off.

Beat Wolves and things will start to look much better, the system worked today at least.

Good tactics tonight I thought.  Also encouraging that subs didn’t require a major change to our shape.  I was dreading him bringing Vesty on the the last 15 and going 3/5 at the back.

Didn’t look too speculative from my angle.

I did put that in my original post.

I don't think shots from 25 yards have a high xg?

Regardless of the dross we've actually faced, two consecutive clean sheets should not go without appreciation. There's certainly still a bombscare in us, but we really have looked more organised, and the green shoots with Ward in particular are good to see.

Different kettle of fish at the weekend against a Wolves side who will be well up for it, though. Dunno where the next point is coming from away from home, let alone win, but I said in these 3 games before Man City we needed 7 from 9. We dropped two against Palace, which makes it a must-win. We'll have to create a lot more than we did today, but I guess it's the hope that kills you, right?

I know some people don't like to point games out as true 'six-pointers' in the first half of the season, but given where we both sit, this next one really could be do-or-die for us.

Because he doesn’t offer much nowadays except a bit more protection for the right back?

We're in the bottom 3 mate and have largely played doggo with no balance, could hardly be any worse. Albrighton provides balance, workrate and could have easily had an impact similar to the one Praet had tonight.

And they were that shite, they dragged off Bamford, because he did nothing.

OK, I'll give you the fact he's short on fitness.

It was unanimous on Amazon that Leeds were shite and we deserved it.

A better performance albeit against a poor Leeds side. Faes reminded me of Steve Walsh in his heyday, big, strong with a touch of arrogance. Needs to avoid the mistakes like he made early in the game to concede a dangerous free kick on the edge of our box.

We were ok, but Leeds were dreadful. In parts of the game it looked like a competition on who could give the ball away the most. We just had more quality. Also not sure what's going on with JJ, looks a shadow of his former self.

That was an appalling performance, let's be honest. We won because Leeds couldn't take advantage of our sloppiness.

We got a much needed win though and that's the main thing.

Agree we win that because Leeds were awful, not because we were great.

On a plus the work vardy does off the ball, makes up for his lack of goals. It's the threat that he gives us that's now more important

I said before the game that this was a huge game for us, and I was chuffed to bits with how we played, and more importantly the result.

Admittedly I’m on the half term holidays, and was 5 gins and a half a bottle of Prosecco in before half time but I thought we had really good energy, more than matched them and although we rode our luck at times we deservedly won the game. Who wudda a thought a 3rd successive home clean sheet!! Haaland will be cacking his knickers next wkend …

We now need to back it up, we all said it after the Forest game and then we flunked royally at Bournemouth. We’ve just had a relatively convincing performance again, now we MUST go to Wolves and get SOMETHING!! They are in disarray, we cannot go there and fold like a pack of cards, simple as. Faes needs to be as commanding away, as he has been at home and we need to bring something home.

My mind still hasn’t changed on Rodgers out, and it will be VERY interesting to see who Villa pursue as their new gaffer (noting Rodgers is still waddling off down the tunnel straight after the whistle these days), maybe there’s a win-win around the corner.

Huge 3 points tonight, now need to BACK IT UP!

I watched as the only City fan in a pub full of Leeds fans. They’re adamant they’re going down. They think we have no chance of going down. I don’t think either of us will.

Some encouraging signs. Faes looks a bargain at £15m so far. We were good at winning the ball high up and forcing Leeds into making mistakes, resulting in the own goal. Three consecutive clean sheets at home is very welcome. Ward seemed more assured tonight. We deserved to win the game. Leeds were poor in key areas and we took advantage. However we didn’t create much, scored our only shot on target, and didn’t test the keeper, albeit factoring in Maddison’s absence tonight. A welcome three points, but it has to be backed up at Molineux on Sunday

I have stayed away from the forums for a while now due to some real knee-jerk reaction posts from many of our fan base regarding Rodgers.

Whilst I am not saying he hasnt made mistakes, he has had to deal with some key players like Wes, Kapser, Vardy, Albrighton getting on and in most cases being moved on and playing lesser roles. They cant stay at that level forever. He has also been let down by the owners. He was vocal on wanting to make points that the dead wood will be sold on and players will come in who will improve us but with no money to spend, we ended up shooting ourselves in the foot. That is the clubs fault not his.

Also we made a mistake by not cashing in on one or two who wanted out early. I know our first FA Cup Final and two 5th place finishes is amazing, but we are still Leicester City and not Man Utd. We should still sell one or two a season and trust the recruitment guys to find replacements. Already Wout Faes in and Fofana out looks like sensational business just like Maguire out and Caglar in was great at the time.

We also need to put some of frustration towards those dealing with contracts. Allowing Tielemans and Caglar to get so late in their contracts and unsettling the squad is crazy. To also have other major players with just 18 months on their deals is criminal. What are they doing back there?!

Anyway, I hope people realise we have a first class manager, things are not going great for a million reasons but its not all down to him. I cant remember the last time as a squad so many key players like Vardy, Ndidi, Caglar, JJ, Barnes were in below par form overall. It seems only Madders looks like playing at his usual level and some doing well but not excelling or improving.

Reading back the hysteria when tonights game typifies why I have stayed away from here. Some wanted Ward out but he is starting to look more secure now he gets a run in the side. I feel safer with him when crosses and corners come in compared to Kasper. Some wanted Amartey out despite the likes of wantaway Caglar and Evans was injured! The negativity towards Soumare in for the injured Ndidi (Soumare won the ball more times than Ndidi has done in a year tonight and came off on the hour), Praet playing (was involved in both goals and was the obvious replacement for Maddison). Also starting Vardy against a side he may want to do well against due to where he is from (Sheffield) and probably playing Daka next time out also made sense.

Lets cut Rodgers some slack and get behind him and the boys.

The quality of the PL is pretty shite this season imo

I think it's the same most years. The bottom half is full of total dross. I mean we finished 8th last year and we were utterly unconvincing. Rodgers or not we shouldn't be close to the discussion.
