I don't think any manager (bar Rodgers of course) would hope the top goal scorer in the league plays against them lol it is a funny comment but nothing to get worked up over just funny

Far be it for me to defend Rodgers but seriously, most managers would say the same thing.  And then go home and stick pins in a Haaland doll.

No manager should want the top goal scorer in the league to play against them, load of rubbish.. he could have just said hes a great talent bla bla bla, not I hope he plays... not that bothered but just found it funny.

Have you ever heard a manager say “I hope the injury is serious, I don’t want him to play”?  About anybody?

I've heard a lot of Leicester fans this week say the same thing, hope I get to see him play. Everyone's different. Personally I'd hope their entire 25 man squad goes down with chronic food poisoning, they have to field and under 18 team which we pummel 7-0 and move into the top half of the table, but some prefer to watch the best players live and say they've seen them play live. I just want us to win I can watch the big cvnt score on TV.

To me, it’s like when we made the CL and a lot of fans were saying “I hope we draw Barca or Bayern, what a thing for little Leicester that would be.”  I could see myself saying that, but not believing it.

I’m far from a fan of Rodgers too and completely agree….he said nothing that other managers most likely would say BUT we don’t judge every comment that they make.

Focus on how Rodgers sets us up tactically, making changes which are now available to him like Evans/Ndidi etc not a comment on Haaland.

Haaland won’t get a kick if he plays.  Wout will have him in his pocket all game and if he dares to lose him then Big Dan will kill him.

The new firmware update last night provides protection to Haaland against the Wout trojan and the SOBIGDAN worm.

Not seen the comments from Rodgers re Haaland just the comments above but it doesn’t have to be either wishing him a longer injury or hoping he plays. If I was Rodgers asked about Haaland I may have just said;

“He’s a great player and I hope he is not out long but I can’t deny it is one less worry for us tomorrow although Man City have very dangerous alternatives”

As others have said, no biggie anyway, just pointing out an alternative answer to the question…

I'd rather he didn't play and we win than he plays and we don't.

But I'd prefer him to play and us still to win over both of the above. You want to beat the best and for them not to have an excuse, don't you?

And our track record vs them isn't completely terrible. Might even stretch to say we've been a bit of a bogey team for them at times. We rarely make it easy and we've taken some key points off them.

So then why would you hope the top goal scorer in the league plays, bizzare.. if they win more with him than without then you hope he don't take any part, you wouldn't be hoping he plays lol

Not sure if the COVID booster has affected me this morning, but I think we are going to win, just feeling positive, and have no basis to support my assumption Leicester 3, Man City 1 👍

I'd have thought I made that clear in my post really.

I mean it's the spirit of competition, right? Competitive pride? You want your team to play and beat the best surely?

Same reason I'd never really want us to be some sort of Sean Dyche park the bus merchants. Yeah I want us to win but even better than shit housing it is the satisfaction of winning well.

its like another manager saying I hope Vardy plays when he was scoring every week, you hear ex defenders coming out with it as well that they would hate coming up against the best strikers.

not that it matters anyway we all have different views but imo you wouldn't be hoping the best striker in the team in this case the league atm you are facing is playing.

It’s fairly obvious. In terms of us winning of course we’d rather him not play. However if you could chose any result you want then beating them WITH Haaland playing would be best. The internet is funny isn’t it. Lots of people arguing with people they don’t know for no reason.
