I think we get tonked here regardlessnof the fact we've had a semi decent run (albeit against crap teams)

 

Think we will score however.  1-4 for me

I blindly reckon we’ll get something from this. We are rested, in some sort of form and their record on the road isn’t great so far this season.

It sounds good on paper when you say it like this but practically it doesnt work like that.

 

Usually what happens in our games is our opponents no longer try and press our centre backs when we're in possession. This leaves them 10 men to mark 9 of ours on their side of the pitch, so realistically they dont have to move much to cover all the passing lanes.

 

This leads to us passing it around for 40 seconds before either trying to boot it long to our forwards, who are closely marked because the opposition defence is fully settled, or playing a risky pass through the midfield which gets cut out more times than it creates something going forwards.

 

Man City can play this way because they can overload their midfield with fullbacks that are confident on the ball, and also have multiple midfielders that can take on players if necessary. We dont have this which is why playing out from the back is usually more trouble than it's worth.

 

Our best moments 90% of the time come from the opponent losing their ball in their half, not from passing out the back despite it being one of the main components of our playstyle.

KDH and Youri being left alone against one of the best midfields in the world sounds like suicide to me haha

Just hope he ditches his stupid sit back and pray tactics for this one. We need to be nipping at their ankles from minute one and just going for it. I'd rather lose 5-0 with us atleast trying to win than lose 5-0 with us pratting around at the back and inviting pressure.

yea the time we should be playing 4 CMs like we have almost every game he changes to a back 3 with no midfield  classic Brendan.

Absolutely, always works doesn't it, particularly when he wants to shore things up in the last 15 minutes  ... not!

 

We've better midfielders to protect a back 4 than a mish mosh of centre halves.

Three at the back has been bad enough this season as it is, and made Faes look like a deer in the headlights at Bournemouth.

 

If we're really bringing Soyuncu in from the cold to play in that system, we deserve everything we get.

I wasn't going to watch but if Cags starts then I might. I need to see just how feckless he's become. If he isn't standing around the halfway line picking his nose whilst they're 5 up, and rattling in another, then I'm going to be disappointed.
