I personally think they'll prioritise a CB before anything else. Especially with how much game time Amartey has had this season.

Yeah your probably right tbf, if we could get both happy days.

Maybe one permanent and one on loan.

He's such a waffler, why on earth would you want Haaland to play?

Haha I found it odd, I think it sums up his casual attitude to the club. He knows he's essentially unsackable and he can spin almost any situation to put him in a good light. I don't think he purposefully wants to do bad but there's no incentive for him to do well, until it starts to affect his reputation anyway.

He's got one of the best gigs in the world. Not many people in the world are as well paid as him with such little accountability.

Out of interest what should he have said?

He's one of the best strikers in the world, but we'd prefer not to play against him and just watch him play against other teams.

It's not the worst thing in the world to say, but it really does she he's under no pressure at all haha

I think players/teams want to measure themselves against the best. They won't be saying I hope so and so is injured to give us a better chance. WOuldn't read into it too much.

However, the fact he is trying to make noise on signing players in January is classic Brendan. Mentioning up to 4 signings, talking to recruitment only to then have someone to blame in January when we are bottom having signed just 1 player.

No idea why he thinks we will be looking to sign 4 players in Jan, maybe 1 or 2 not 4.

Maybe the club are prepared to make the money available considering we’re flirting with relegation.

I’m pretty sure an element of our non spending in the summer was complacency by the club expecting a comfortable mid table season regardless of players in.

Some cynical part of me wonders if by specifying a number that gives him the leeway if we don't make say 4 signings to complain after the window that he hasn't been backed anough again and continue to spin the narrative if things go sour again.

Hopefully it means what you suggested though, I'd love a window of getting rid of as much deadwood as possible and getting some decent players in that fit the profile of our previous signings - relatively young, not on massive wages and with the scope to be sold on for a huge profit in the future.

I just think it is a pretty normal comment.

I think too many people get wrapped up in manager speak, one of the worse parts of modern football is the need to over analyse everything.

I'm with you, it's getting silly now with every word he says sniggered at.

For those that do over analyse it could be him saying play him we're not worried but if he said hope he doesn't play a lot of people on here will say it shows weakness & we're telling Pep we are running scared.

Also how many supporters that have paid for a ticket & going actually don't want to see him play on saturday because they think it will give us a better chance, bear in mind this would probably be the 1 & only time a season they will see him live, managers are fans of the best players also.

I'd imagine getting the Fofana deal done late and not having Glover in place didn't help.

Regardless of how he words it or dresses it up he had 3 options. "I'd rather not play against Haaland", "I'd rather play against Haaland" or dodge the question and just talk about his talent.

To be asked that and answer that way just strikes me as someone who's completely safe and has no cares about the job in hand. He sounded absolutely buzzing to watch the lad play lol

I've triple captained him as I think he'll get a bucket load based on how we've been playing. Bring on the the Norweigian goal machine I say, I hope he takes the little smirk off Brendan's face.

Personally I hope we keep Haaland quiet like we did against ronaldo at home last year and go home buzzing with the satisfying feeling of giving them a good thumping. He is not the only one we have to worry about though but whoever we face I always want us to win.

For all the misery of the last few weeks and months I'm thoroughly looking forward to Saturday. I know we'll most likely get a hiding, but we've actually won two on the bounce, and we know we can score goals. Vardy to start, be a total pain and wind as any of them up as possible, and see how we go. I'm hoping my new found optimism lasts beyond around 12.44

Standard manager BS. We want to test ourselves against the best blah blah....can't really say points are the most important thing, and that would be easier if we just played some old $h1te team.

Our best defence against Haarland, switch off the wifi, they'll never get him connected to mobile data inside our ground, see how he fares then
