I still think man for man we are a better team than Everton. They aren’t as good as us at this minute in time not in terms of true quality. Obviously form plays a part but on our day we would beat these 7 times out of 10. This also applies to a lot of teams in the league too, we are in the middle of a period where not many Premier League teams are that good. As much as I am Rodgers out he is also a better manager than Lampard and he should not be getting out done tactically by a manager that is early in his career. 4
STEVIE B Posted 1 November 2022 Posted 1 November 2022 Everton are very vanilla. Don't concede many, don't score many. 0-0 ?

True, they are flakey, but if we turn up with our tutti frutti attack and dont concede from a cornet we may get a very late winner in the... Say... 99th minute. 😐 1 - 2 2
Pliskin Posted 1 November 2022 Posted 1 November 2022 Everton are shit. They should be in the championship. Stinking the league out like Boro used to do prior to their relegation. 1

filbertway Posted 1 November 2022 Posted 1 November 2022 I was reading their forum and they said they're surprised how safety first Lampard has been this season. They also don't understand how they're not creating/scoring more from set pieces given that they're full of giants now. A lot of people are doing a sky sports and treating Everton as an easy target despite that no longer being the case. Sounds like they're quite blunt up top, but definitely shored up at the back. Sounds like we're going to be part of a game that bores the viewers to tears again this weekend
gurru991 Posted 1 November 2022 Posted 1 November 2022 Everton have improved their defence this season but have struggled to score goals even though they signed Maupay & Calvert-Lewin is fit. The bookies have them as favourites but I feel that is down to home advantage. I expect a close game that we will need to be at our best to win. What line up BR comes up with is anyones guess but I don't think I'll be betting on this one.

I remember someone on here likened Coady to Verstergaard. Yet another ridiculous post there. I have no idea why Wolves let Coady go and IF we could have signed Tarkowski, we should have done. Going forward is where they are weak but I’m assuming Calvert-Lewin will play. Tough game coming up but definitely one we can win
jim5000 Posted 2 November 2022 Posted 2 November 2022 I can't see how we don't win this one. The Man City result aside, we are back in form, and even that match was a good performance. Rodgers has Lampards number, we tonked Chelsea when he was in charge of those, and Everton will be setup to defend. Over 90 minutes our superior attacking play combined with a refound defensive solidity should deliver the result needed. Our only risk is if Evans is back fit and gets put back in the side....

Tough game coming up but definitely one we can win ...the rumours coming from Burnley were that he was not having a good season and we obviously were not looking to pick him up with Fofana still here!!! Now that Faes is in our team, we have a leader for the team, and to all intents and purposes, Ben Mee was the standout defender in the Burnley backline. 1

You can never, ever call them. Both sides have wildly varying form each season ...we edge it on ability perhaps but they have the muscle. As someone earlier said, I fully expect Richarlason to score! 🤣 1
CosbehFox Posted 2 November 2022 Posted 2 November 2022 The one team I have a very irrational reaction to when we lose to them. It will be 0-0 I think 1

To be irrational is to be human I used to dislike Everton as they just seemed a niggly, ugly side that only managed to shithouse wins. Now, I can't summon up that same feeling for them. These days, my attitude towards them is probably best described as 'meh' I'm still in my negative phase and can't see us winning this one. No corner has been turned for me. We've shown renewed spirit, improved defensive unity and there are signs... but I'm not confident we can maintain that trajectory. My fear is that we have a manager that'll want us to run (doing his run) before we're stable on our feet and the confidence that has been building will be torn away, i.e. we'll fold again. It might 'only' be Everton but I'd still be cautious. Not Man City levels cautious (that's not necessary) but neither would I be looking to implement 'death by football '
Vazman Posted 2 November 2022 Posted 2 November 2022 Let's just go down there, and have an enjoyable, comfortable win, and experience, to show we have improved, and push us the table, we should be going all out for a win, we are more than capable.
Aus Fox Posted 2 November 2022 Posted 2 November 2022 Put it this way, I’ve heard a lot of Everton fans and people in the media say that Everton are back and what a good start to the season Frank has had. On the flip side, we’ve had a shocking start to the season. If we beat them this weekend we’re level on points with them. 4

I have seen all 20 teams,IMO I have seen them all play good football, but also have very average moments. That's Football..over analysing often leads to false judgment.. Lampard maybe new,but doesn't mean, Like any newbie,he can't /shouldn't have the upper hand over experienced Managers..but often a game is not about the manager...It's the teams on the day. In football I keep saying the word should leads to false entitlement.

Lambert09 Posted 2 November 2022 Posted 2 November 2022 I expect this game week to be the start of the ‘protect yourself’ attitudes from world cup players. It will be on all internationals minds that a small injury here will keep them out of the world cup. Shame everton have no internationals 😂 Hope big dan doesn’t start pulling out of challenges
