Radio Leicester coverage

Does anybody know why Radio Leicester are no longer taking calls from supporters after matches or on Monday evenings?

...they appear to be playing around with the format and struggling to get a good balance!!!

The quests on a Monday do not get enough air time for me and the program suffers from that. There was a father and son on I believe it was last week and the son came across as very knowledgeable and upbeat, even when pointing out shortfalls. There is a tactics area where the expert highlights formations and points out the pros and cons.

Pipes has run out of things to say and tends to repeat himself or go off on a tangent and it becomes a ramble.

When people phoned in, it was always the same person, so it became a bit the same.

Without the callers after a match you just get Piper for an hour and there’s just not enough different things for him to say.

....I understand that and I feel sorry for him, that he is made to carry this on his own!!!

What I was referring to was the Monday night phone-in and we keep going to him first and side-lining the guests. This (getting the guest's point of view) would give Pipes a chance to feed off someone else and take some of the weight off him. I do believe if you intend to take up punditry, you need to get to know your subject and research is a big part of that.

They were marginalising callers 3 or 4 years ago at least.

After realising this, I noted how many callers they had on one particular Monday show.

The first caller wasn't brought on until 20 mins after the start and then there was only 3 in total. It was called a phone in too!

They may have wanted it to go that way or, perhaps, they were not getting the volume of calls.

I do recall the program was getting insufferable, with Stringer lording over  it and laughing out loud at unfunny comments from his guests in the studio.

Yeah, pretty sure they just don't get the caller numbers. Same bloke used to call up every game post match, and it was basically the Roy from Wigston show on Monday night, hence why they've changed it up to "voice from the stands" and having just one guest supporter.

I also think there's an element of whoever is running it wanting to put their own stamp on it post-Stringer. The rebrand to "When You're Smiling" and format changes are all part of it I imagine.

I agree with most though, Piper does his best but they can't fill the airtime without repetition.

The hyperbole gets me. Apparently Brendan getting Soyuncu to a place where hes was starting this weekend was "man-management genius". AKA doing his job. Perhaps not even that, in his interview I think Brendan said they wanted to play a certain formation and Cags was the only option available.

The football forum may be coming to an end. Radio Leicester will only have local shows from 6am to 2pm weekdays and for live sport.

Didn't know this. It'll probably just continue in podcast form, hence the rebrand.

I still listen in on these but as others have pointed out, imagine they gave up with phone-in element as you just had the same 2 or 3 people ringing in each week.

Same with 606 on five live. There are only two Leicester fans who ring in. One lad who lives in Rotherham and another guy from Coalville lol
