Not sure if this has been mentioned but has anyone found the stats shown during the games baffling and weird ?!?

Random things like receptions, forced turnovers and the ‘in contest’ possession stat, all very strange imo

I actually like it  gives a good indication of things you can't always see with the naked eye. Receptions between midfield and defence is a good stat, shows which teams are able to penetrate through passing to the final third. Turnovers is just another word for tackles / interceptions right? For me these are useful stats for people who watch football (semi) regularly.

However when the inevitable 'xG' stat starts being trotted out during games instead of actual goals/shots I'll be done.

Yep. Not long til they're brought into our game and people are using them to backup their point about our performances

Just you wait. I'm half expecting xG to be used as a tiebreaker in future to get rid of all these pesky boring draws.

It'll be the end of a generation of proper Brexit managers... Allardyce, Dyche, Hodgson, Pulis and co

Hold on... let's get this introduced ASAP! :appl:

Would be a campaign to get headers increased on xG

I swear Ochoa, Muslera and Sommer only exist as goalkeepers in international tournaments.

Ffs Muslera isnt getting picked anymore, is this even a World Cup??

Is there a greater contingent of mature players at this world cup? Perhaps it's been mentioned more or I've not noticed previously but every game seems to have a lot of senior players. Messi and Ronaldo have probably been the headlines but lots of teams seem to have a few 33 or 35+ players.

Serbia v Switzerland

That's the only one I'd expect might actually get spicy. A lot of guys in the Serbia team are actual trash. They started baiting in their first game with a Kosovo Is Serbia / No Surrender banner.

There's only a couple of Kosovo/Albania heritage players in this Swiss squad but probably the most volatile of all of them is their captain, so...

It only takes one.

Great to see, she was brilliant when she reffed one of our Europa games

I think it's an all female official team too.

I did hear the commentator in one of the games say draws in the groups games will be decided by penalty shoot outs in the next World cup - surely that is wrong?

Unless I heard wrong (which is likely!)

Not sure that's been confirmed but apparently (according to Wiki) it was a suggestion made by Van Basten against the idea of 3-team groups to 'mitigate the risk of collusion'.

Entertainment and drama wise. This World Cup is right up there. Anyone that disagrees is just doing so to be awkward.
