The snowman (1982) and other favourite childhood Christmas memories.

Recommended Posts

Snowman still brings tears to my eyes.

As a child in the 60's, Christmas films weren't hugely memorable.

The films I remember watching with my daughters...

The Grinch

Home Alone

Polar Express (even now)

Elf

Scrooge

Jack Frost

I can't believe The Snowman is 40 years old but, then, I still think 1970 was 30 years ago!

I like Christmas, although the few people I get presents for are very difficult to buy for. The OH and I aren't doing any this year due to lack of things wanted or even ideas. The dog always gets the most gifts!

We never really go mad with the food either, all the usual bits but not excessive.

And I like Christmas music, at Christmas, it can do one in October. My only Christmas film like is Die Hard :)

I actually quite like Xmas.

My favourite part is giving gifts to people and surprising them.

The food, alcohol and football are pretty good too!

But I don't like Xmas films really, and I detest Xmas music.

Sorry!

That's OK, Tom. You just haven't heard the ultimate festive track yet:

We always used to have a full English with bucks fizz and then dinner later.  As a kid I was allowed one present on Christmas Eve.

I recall have a blazing row with my mum on more than one Christmas day, usually in relation to my over indulging the night before with mates down the Clarendon and being too hungover to eat anything .  I now fully understand why she was so hacked off.  Atrocious behaviour.

I love Christmas but mainly for the social/food/booze aspects.  My wife and I watch it's a wonderful life every year.  Snowman most years as well.

Not strictly a Xmas film but The Sound of Music always seems to be on this time of year. Also Trading Places has Christmas in it so does that count?

Absolutely Trading Places counts.

Purely for the reason that Jamie Lee Curtis gets her tits out

Small boy is abducted from his home and flown to a far away land in sub-zero temperatures wearing only his jim-jams and a dressing gown. Totally irresponsible behaviour from The Snowman and more than a little creepy.

lol Reminded me of this...
