“Jamie Vardy has won more than you”

It doesn’t matter. Just know your football history. Blackburn are a founding member of the football league. They’ve won six FA Cups and have been Champions of England three times including winning the Premier League.

During the Sheffield Utd v Spurs game the commentator (Pearce I think?) said a few time that Spurs were a team that are synonymous with the FA cup.

Like Sheffield Utd hadn't been in 6 finals, winning 4 of them.

Yes, that was a long time ago, but Spurs cup success was hardly yesterday.

Would have been more accurate to describe Spurs as once synonymous with the cup for fans watching of a certain age

Spurs are the joint third most successful club in the FA Cup tbf.

With 8 FA Cups, they’ve won double of Sheffield United. In fact Spurs have won more than Sheffield United alone since Sheffield United last won it.

Are we only allowed to sing songs that are verified as facts? We are going to need a fact checking overhaul on our songs. Anyone help out with the below?

Are we 100% by far the greatest team the world has ever seen?

If you smile, does the entire world actually smile with you aswell?

Has Vardy ever walked upto Venger and told him to chat shit get banged?

Does anyone actually live in the Kop? Is it purely blue and white even?

Did Vichai actually have a dream or was it purely a business decision?

Can I suggest the first fact checked song for us to crack on with “Leicester, Leicester, Leicester, Leicester, Leicester, Leicester Leicester.”

Dunno about any of that but referees definitely dont know what they're doing.

Wànkers too.

If 20k fans want to sing a completely inaccurate song to wind up some opposition fans,  that's up to them.

If they want to sing the song backwards, that's up to them.

If they don't want to sing anything, that's up to them.

We live in democracy not a dictatorship.

I'm just defending the right of the people to free speech.

You’re right. This is definitely a free speech issue! 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

Vardy's silverware (2009-2023)

Northern Premier League (Division One) Champion 2009

Northern Premier League Champion 2010
Conference Champion 2011
Championship Champion 2014
Premier League Champion 2016
FA Cup Champion 2021
Community Shield Champion 2021

Blackburn's silverware (1875 - 2023)

Premier League / Division One Champions 1912, 1914, 1995
Division Two (Championship) Champions 1939
Division Three (League One) Champions 1975
FA Cup Champions 1884, 1885, 1886, 1890, 1891, 1928

League Cup Champions 2002

Community Shield Champions 1913

(Most recent silverware in bold - individual awards not included)

On this occasion, I think we have to concede to Rovers, especially given their FA Cup dominance in the era of Queen Victoria and William Gladstone. On an absolute technicality, Vardy has won more types of trophy with 7 compared to Rovers' 6, but that's a pretty moot point given some of those were only marginally above park football level, so Blackburn probably have some meaningless pre-season trophies to claim in a counter-argument.

The correct chant therefore is "20 years and you've won f**k all". One may, however, argue that if Jamie Vardy had been playing football since the 1870s, he may well have single-handedly won more than Blackburn.

Anybody with as much spare time as me is welcome to use Vardy's list to do their own research into chant accuracy for future incidents.

I think for this game and similar ones we should add the word: “a” to the song to allow us to continue to sing it.

Jamie Vardy he’s won more than “A” ewe

Do we have to look a little sheepish after we have sung it?

Sheepish hearing this yesterday though. They've won 5 FA Cups guys

I tend to think of it as "[in Jamie Vardy's lifetime, ] he's won more than you". Which feels like a reasonable cut-off point for 'relevant' achievements when comparing the two - in that time WBA have only won the championship in '08, same as runners up a few times and a 3rd tier playoff win in '93. Before that its another 25 years back when they won the FA cup in '68 - before the majority of the WBA fans in attendance yesterday were born.

That nuance obviously doesnt come across in a chant though lol
