Suddenly the dreadful reality of being in the bottom three has come true. You look at the table and there we are sitting looking very ugly.

Reminds me of the 14/15 season, the great escape. It was around the 11th April that our comeback began , it was a siege mentality, all hands on deck, no prisoner's and that never say die attitude carried on in to the next season.

But who amongst our current squad has got that drive and determination to help us survive ? Who can we rely on to step up to the plate ?

I honestly feel like this could be Vardy's final gift to the fans. He's kept us before and he could do it again

Wouldn't that be amazing, he's got the right mindset, the tippy tapoy stuff was not his game, maybe we can find an old system that works for him again.

I'm also thinking Johnny Evans, but is he fully fit?

I think the question is who wants to be here? Who is committed to the club and wants to be here and in the PL next season?

Iversen, Kristiansen, Souttar, Faes, Ricardo, KDH, Barnes, Vardy, Daka, Iheanacho, Ndidi

Maddison won’t be here next season, but will be committed and it will be his performances that get us over the line.

Yes I mean surely there is some personal pride when it comes to being a professional  footballer. I can't say that I've seen too many kissing the badge like they did at Newcastle yesterday, but that's probably because their wages have probably trebled and a Ferrari for every goal scored !

Shane we can't bring Schmeichal back, we need trench warfare fighters but this current bunch look like lightweights, you could throw Joshua in to the mix !

I think sacking Rodgers will have dropped the penny to some of these players and we'll see a better fight to our performances now. Expect Barnes, KDH, Maddison, Vardy, Kristiansen, Ricardo, Faes to all play a massive part now.

Maddison is still our ace and when he's off his game, the team don't tend to play well

He's had a stellar season but need him to really perform in this run of games to make it count

That's the list I would have come up with too. There might be some others, but these guys seem to be the most motivated.

However, I feel that compared to the last time we were in trouble we lack characters. Wes Morgan, Kasper Schmeichel, Christian Fuchs, Danny Drinkwater, Marc Albrighton... these guys might be technically worse than some players we have now, but they were fighters who worked their way up to the top. Since the start of the year, I've felt Kristiansen looks to be the strongest mentally, and given he's a 20 year old who's just moved to the big leagues that says a lot about our current plight :(

This is a very different squad to the one we had in the great escape. Say what you like about Pearson, and I was never one of his biggest fans, but he put together a squad with resilience and a togetherness, and a team with some leaders, that I simply don't see with the current squad. I feel that there are too many players at the club who just feel that they won't be at the club next season anyway, and are not going to bust a gut to get us safe. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

Agree 100%.

I'd also add that Pearson had built a squad that reflected very much his own character and beliefs and had been building it for several seasons. Today's team feels like a hastily and badly put together group of mercenaries in comparison to that squad.

I've no confidence in any of our players to really roll up their sleeves and fight for our survival except perhaps Vardy and I think he's basically finished at this level.

Pearson is gone ( I loved the guy)..I don't even think you can compare..

The then to the now...

IMO the relegated teams were not so good then..

Most likely Top & management will be hoping,we have a great Escape without descision on manager...Or they have already someone in sight..

My players to stand up..whole B.line

Might see Soyuncu in frame.

We change to a frontfootside...

Barnes & Tete..

Nacho & Vardy out in front...

Maddison & Mendy will drive forward & hold respectively..

Hoping a new rekindled KDH helps his Home club..

Large cameos Ricardo Kristiansen & Praet..Maybe Tielemans from L'pool game..

If we start with FF- mentality, we see basically same players, but a totally different team...

Against Villa, maybe happy with a draw, but then on other closer opponents 3pointers..Its hard but we need at least

 4/10 wins,plus some 'gravy' draws.

To be sure 5-6/10 wins...Our Fixtures are kinder than the other mixed-bag for relegation opposition, but any of these can turn a top 6 over...

So we need the famous old adage  help from

    "That fat Lady"

But also, if whoever is managing doesn't see the required effort level, running forward tracking back, bottling a 50/50, hook 'em like Riccy for Tete on Saturday.

It was the 4th April 2015 the great escape began, an on the 4th April 2017 Shakey masterminded his 5th win on the bounce, as we are playing Villa on the 4th April it's written in the stars the fightback begins Tuesday.

That would the first thing I’d do. Get Vardy straight back into the side.
If possible, I’d also recall Albrighton. Albrighton is by far the player most on Vardy’s wavelength.

Personally I think they’ll all step up now. There was definitely something toxic going on at City and I’m guessing the players will probably feel relieved.
