Feels like all week they must have been trying to uncoach Brendan ball out of the players.

I really hope we are going to be a bit more progressive now and not just pass for the sake of it. They need to pick their passes at the right times and if it means more direct in to channels etc then so be it.

That's why I would like Daka to start with Iheanacho as he has genuine pace to do the running for the direct balls in behind. No point pretending Vardy is up to that anymore.

I'd go with that too - With Barnes out and facing an onslaught there is no point in playing wingers

Whats the point leaking team news?

I'm pretty sure Pep doesn't give a fig about what lineup we trot out there.

What’s more worrying for me is someone is willingly leaking the news from within. Are you concerned @Bert? Is there still disharmony in this squad? Or is that the wrong vibe?

Wouldn’t be concerned. It happens at pretty much every club.

Up early and dreading the game.

Is there anyway we can get anything from this one?

Don’t dread it.

No one is expecting anything from the game and no one is giving us a chance.

If we get something from the game, great. If not no one will bat an eyelid.

Just dreamt that it was 2-2 after 70 mins. Don't know what happened after that lol

Haaland mad. Haaland score goals. Amartey came on as a sub.

93rd minute 9-2

Not convinced that’s true though. A heavy defeat and you can bet all this optimism from the supporters with the new management team  goes out the window.

If he's good enough to play, he'll play - the management team won't select him if he's not doing it in training.

Completely agree, Smith, Shakespeare and Terry aren’t going to select him just for old times sake and risk what is a golden opportunity to have a really positive end to the season and the chance to secure a long term position with the club.

if Vardy is selected then I am pretty sure it will be down to the fact that the new management team have seen in training that he still has the ability and they believe he is the best option to help execute their tactical plans for the remainder of the season.

I still believe the lack of progression/regression of all 3 of our strikers has been down to Brendan Ball, when we have on the odd occasions reverted to a more successful high intensity, pressing from the front and counter attacking type of game, all 3 have looked more comfortable and effective, I fully expect  Kels, Vardy and Daka to make significant contributions in the run in under the new management team.

Sky Sports predictions (For what that's worth) are giving us a 1-1 draw due to a history of Man City having a history of poor results after draining midweek European games.

If only I could find an ounce of their confidence within me but I just can't. They are just a sublime and near perfect team.

They are just the wrong team at the wrong time for us right now and I will be happy to just get this one out of the way and look at our next targets that we can realistically look at getting points from.

Bloody looking forward to today all the same.

Seemed like everyone knew our line up the second half of the 15/16 season …….

in this Uber tactical age, I think it does help the opposition a bit.  Few teams got to Man City and play two up top.  if it wasn’t Man City then I’d care, given this is the new coaching staff’s first game. But at the etihaad, it won’t make any difference- Walker plays today which means they just rely on his pace to cover everything

Dreading as I hate to see us totally outplayed and a shadow of our former selfs. Also the sheer needleness of our plight is just awful - note to self to pull myself together COYB

Bit random, but does anyone know how to find out which kit we're playing in today?

It said on the clubs twitter account they are playing in the black kit.

Ah, welcome to FT Madders. If you’d asked this last week we perhaps wouldn’t have lost to Bournemouth!!

good look at the etihad

Result is a free hit. Performance is important today. Organisation, effort and a desire to attack when the opportunity presents itself are 3 things i want to see.

Man City are an excellent team and should win, but we can at least take positives from a good performance

Vardy more than any other player appeared to have given up under Brendan. Let’s hope against hope that he can drag his GOAT body round for these last matches and save us. He deserves a chance at least. G’won Jamie lad.

Over the past four seasons our GD there is negative 3 (have only won one of those four though)

I suspect few teams have a GD as good as that.

it’s a shame that our team is currently a shadow of  those that went there over those four seasons (and yes we did go 4 down in twenty minutes last season)

Just cannot see where the goals are coming from but hoping for a miracle, a point would be a massive bonus and do wonders for player confidence. Man City are due an off day, time to make yourself an instant hero Dean Smith.
