Very hard not to get excited after reading that. I do wonder what was said when they met the leadership group about the problems.

...the pro- Rodgers will be stating the lack of personnel and injuries to key players, which stopped Rodgers from carrying out what he wanted to do!!!

I suspect the anti- Rodgers group would not be voicing their opinions and looking at how things go in the future.

For the sake of harmony, it needs all parties to be honest and open, it cannot be easy when you work in such a tight knit situation.

I imagine it started, or ended like this.

Ricky injured, great idea loaning out Ayoze and Marc, with Barnes injured we have one winger. Idiotic.

...we have not developed conventional wingers in the U21s, we use players who look to play wide but they are neither a winger or wide forwards.

The only player that I see who seem to want to play that way, is used in a left back role, and who has the mentality of a winger is Deniche Hill. He loves to get forward, always looking to take on the man in front of him and is willing to try different things to accomplish it.

We do not help ourselves,  we need to revamp the academy recruitment and get players that can come in at short notice and do a job in the first team, because they play the same way as the first team.

Man City have only dropped 5 points at home all season, a 2-1 defeat to Brentford and a 1-1 draw with Everton.

Brentford played a 3-5-2/5-3-2 with wing backs and actually had 8 shots on target in this game and limited Man C to few chances.

Everton were more fortunate in their 1-1 only having 1 shot all game, scored by Demarai Gray. Man C did however struggle to break down Evertons 5-4-1 formation.

Whilst I've been unsure if Smith would use a wing back system as its not his usual style, given that Brentford had success with it and the lack of wide players we have available, it seems this could be the system he uses.

Only downside to this is it means potentially having to play Amartey. Depends on whether Evans is fit enough but I'd like to see Cags come back in and have a game but again, depends on fitness as he's barely played in the last 12 months.

I'd like to see Tielemans play as well but again depends on fitness. If not then for me it would be Mendy, KDH and Maddison with Nacho and Daka up top. Trying to keep hold of the ball when we get it back will be important which is why I don't want to see Ndidi on the team sheet as he has been really poor this season and I feel Mendy would protect the ball better.

Iversen, Castagne, Souttar, Faes and Kristiansen are a given along with Maddison. Other positions are potentially up for grabs dependant on fitness levels.

With Harvey and  Ricardo unavailable it's either a case of staying with the 4-3-3, getting the width from Tete & Maddison or more likely it wil be three CB's, wing backs then either 2 up front or 1 with Maddison just behind. Ordinarily you have to leave out Barnes for those systems but if he's out anyway then they may as well be considered.

Hopefully it's Evans, Faes and Souttar, Castagne and Kristiansen, Ndidi or Mendy with Youri and probably K D-H (unless it's Ndidi / Mendy / Tielemans which you could perhaps forgive given the opposition). Then Maddison with either Nacho or Daka up front.

My money is on:

Iversen

CB*, Souttar, Faes,

Castagne, KDH, Ndidi, Kristiansen

Madders

Iheanacho, Vardy

Think the implication from the press conference is Tielemans isn't ready to start. If I've got that wrong then he probably starts over maybe KDH.

I'd start Daka and Nacho personally but I think looking at who the coaches are they'll pick Vards. Tbf he's terrorised Man City more than almost any other club hasn't he?

I know most people would pick Mendy but given its new coaches and a clean slate I wouldn't be surprised if Wilf gets the nod on reputation.

*absolutely fvck knows who they'll pick as the third CB.

Just remember everyone - we are the team that cost Liverpool the Premier league title last season by beating them on Boxing Day!

I'd have gone straight up to Soyuncu on Tuesday morning and goaded him in to 8 games of HATE and aggression. Go out with a bang Caglar, it's been an absolute disgrace he's barely been used this season.

Honestly, Rodgers must have been spending about 200-400k of the clubs money every week (depending on the week) on spite lol

I think he'll go 3 at the back too. 2 strikers and Maddison central is the right choice for me.

Did we ever find out why Rodgers wasn't using him?

Bottled that 50/50 against Spurs and just never managed to come back from it. I have to admit I would have sold him in the summer after that too but to not sell him and keep him around rotting is just poor management.

Noticed he features prominently in the training videos. Early on he was itching to get outside and he was front of the queue in some of the training. Would love to see a Cags renaissance as part of our end of season flourish.

.. I have seen Maddison pull out of a few challenges!!!

He has toughened up now but he has pulled out of challenges. You won't see that anymore, he has rebuild his approach to the game and has stepped up.
