I like him, the problem is what came before. I cannot pile in for the Newcastle result, I think the botch at home to Everton now looks by far the costliest result.

I don’t think he did his homework, took him too long to work out how to play those games with the players he had. It’s a shame.

I can’t criticise him too much, everyone associated with the club before he was here are complete **** ups but Everton, Leeds and Fulham were all pretty poor performances and results on his watch.

Not to blame but not getting a win in either of the Leeds or Everton game was massive. Leeds were there for taking in particular. 

 

I put more blame on the 2 games in between Rodgers and Smith. Had to win one of them.

Can’t attach any blame to Smith. 9 points in 8 games much better form that we had shown for a long time and a much better points returning in the last 8 games than Rodgers would have gotten.

9 points from 8 games at 1.125 compared to 0.833 for the 30 games before and improvement 0.29 points per game.

 

Still think the indecision were we had a caretaker for two home games cost us.

villa never went down under him. he took them up through the play offs orginally

Why would he? It’s not his problem. The club haven’t put any faith in him (interim contract), so why should he spend time planning for a season  that he’s not even going to be here for?

I actually don’t want to blame Maddison as I like him and think he’s performed well overall. But fvck that penalty miss against Everton was the decider wasn’t it?
