Premier League Thread 2023/2024

What's interesting McKenna is not the first manager to achieve back to back promotion to the premier league. Lambert at Norwich, Adkins at Southampton you can't say either of them went on to be amazing.

It's 4 games, including the one against Leicester in November 2022. He got people to bet on him getting booked and the made sure he got booked in all 4 games (allegedly). I think that's frowned upon more than what the likes Toney and Tonali did, so expect a decent ban.

How much damage has been dealt to the reputation of ETH do people think? Seems inevitable he's gone unless he can win the FA Cup, if he loses and is sacked, what sort of club do you think would take him? Spent a LOT of money at United and half of the signings have been quite hit and miss. Martinez missing plenty of games, Casemiro is hot and cold every week, Amrabat was an awful signing, Antony is one of the biggest flops we've seen as of now, worst league finish in the premier league era, and the same old mistakes every week.

Does he walk straight back into a top club?

Nottingham Forest must sell players before the profitability and sustainability rules deadline at the end of June to avoid breaching spending limits and risking a points deduction next season.

“The Brennan Johnson sale is now included in this year’s figures,” football finance expert Kieran Maguire told i. “They’ve got that boost to finances. And shifted some of the high earners off the payroll.”

But it is not yet enough. Forest spent heavily after earning promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs in May 2022, spending more than £100m to build a squad capable of staying in the league. Players such as Jesse Lingard and Jonjo Shelvey signed on high wages, but have since moved on.

“Their wage bill for a club in their first season in the Premier League was ludicrous,” Maguire added. “They were averaging £67,000 per week. So many players came on big deals.”

Next season is going to be ****ing wild.

Leicester can't afford to spend, might have to sell, getting a points deduction. Might lose manager.

Everton probably can't afford to spend.

Forest have to sell, might get a points deduction.

Ipswich unlikely to heavily reinforce, still have a lot of League One squad, almost certainly losing their manager to someone.

Brentford in decline, another that might lose their manager.

And if Leeds come up, I feel like Leeds are flying under the radar a bit at the moment but they spent quite a lot in the process of getting relegated and there's already talk that they're in huge trouble if not promoted. That's not magically going to go away if they win the play offs. I doubt they'll be spending huge either and may be tempted to cash in on the likes of Rutter and Summerville.

Seriously it's gonna be mad.
