“The investigation started from a bet on Paquetá's yellow card in West Ham's 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, on March 12, for the Premier League.

The Brazilian midfielder took the yellow in the 24th minute of the second half.

Initial analysis showed that on that day several new accounts were created at Betway, account linked with people close to Paqueta, with users depositing the maximum amount allowed. These accounts made a married bet to increase the winnings: the authors would only receive the money if Paquetá took yellow against Villa and if the striker Luiz Henrique, from Betis, received the card against Villarreal, on the same day on March 12.”

Fairly sure it’s Garry Birtles on comms on the international stream, ex Forest striker.

Why do you sound so excited?

No reason in particular, just in the moment.

It was between watching this and Leeds-WBA on TV and so far this match has been relatively entertaining.

Paqueta didn't even cover his tracks well. Wasn't subtle at all.  This guy on twitter spotted it before the match so you can guarantee the authorities saw it.

I saw a tweet that said it takes thousands in bets to make someone odds on to get booked before a match. And a load of bets came from Brazil. But no idea if that's true.

Especially when you very rarely get booked as well, generally he’d be 3-4/1 to get booked.

It's genuinely freakish, isn't it?

They didn't sound great tonight though against a Sheffield United side who'll find it heavy going.

Definitely another season of struggle.

They'll be shit but probably get away with it due to the other dirge. The very existence of Sheffield United and Luton in the PL this season is their luck encapsulated.

Admittedly the Wood goal was actually pretty good rather than the usual four deflections.

I'm torn between thinking they'll finish about 14th or do what Huddersfield did in their second season a few years ago and stink the place out.

Sounds like Greenwood won't be staying at Man U afterall.

Doubt he will see any football for a while tbh.

Sign of the times eh?

Just three  3 pm kick-offs today and that is despite no teams playing European football (well Man City sort of did..)

Didn’t those Pakistani cricketers get imprisoned for this exact same offence?

Think so. Some people putting him in the same bracket as Toney. But it's not, it's worse (if he's guilty).

It's spot fixing and it's illegal.

Same old story from us. 2 or 3 really good chances against Brighton but all missed the target.

We've edged Brighton really, but Mitoma's goal was brilliant. And we couldn't score in a brothel.

You should buy Patson Daka from us.

You still won't be able to score, but we don't want him lol

Fabio Silva should have done better with his chance!
