I guess Evans sort of makes sense, he’s a leader and if he cuts his deal from 100k to say 60k a week, that’s 3.1m for the season which isn’t too expensive for his experience, but tbh he’s probably going to get injured in about a month anyway, so who knows.

Its makes zero sense for exactly the reason at the end of your post. This isn't a fit player who were gambling on another year for the experience. This is a player that hasn't been fit for 2 years. Itd be beyond dumb to waste a squad place and money on him.

Guessing Watford don't want Hamza then if the media team are pretending we've just triggered a 1 year extension.

Not necessarily. He was always our player and was only on loan. Not sure if there was an obligation to buy or not, but I think it's more that we want to keep someone at that level for us as opposed to Watford not wanting him.

Option to buy was £6m, which would have been a good chunk of Watfords budget

This is what they’ve been doing at Seagrave then. Bloody Tielemans getting his Ashley Young on…

Have you seen Hazards wages, fee and appearances?

Just had his contract terminated

Anyone remaining from this season should be on a pay to play contract. We owe them nothing.

Sicknote Evans can GTF.

Gain weight, go bald and become a cult hero in the Championship, you say?

People saying glad hamza is coming back, not if his rumoured 60k a week is only reduced to 40k plus.

If Hamza is on 60k per week, it shows (yet again) just how badly this club has been run.

Choudry is very very average. 60k a week…. The mind boggles it really does

Not sure what the point in trying to keep Evans is. If we were going to try and keep one around off that list (Cags being unrealistic so not counting him), it’d be Mendy as I think he’d be really good at our new level if played consistently.

Evans barely plays and isn’t the leader he’s cracked up to be anymore.

If we are paying him to play a leadership role it’s an expensive role but we had the same with Wes, he was signing a new extension on 60k a week when we knew he wouldn’t play, but his leadership as captain made it worth it imo. With Evans he’s more than good enough to play at championship level and he’s a leader. If he stays fit it’s a massive bonus, and 3m is not a massive sum to pay in the modern game, but personally I’d rather get him off the books!

Disappointed about Mendy but that’s it. I know others had some good offers. Surprised we got rid of Mendy but extended Hamza.

I'm not. Choudhury has played recently in the championship and has shown that he is content to play at that level. I hope he's not someone we end up pinning our hopes on but he can certainly contribute in the championship.

I wonder whether this is the subtle confirmation that Smith is getting the job, otherwise why would the club be negotiating contract extensions when we don't yet have a new manager to say they want them or not?

This just screams Dean Smith now.

If Big Dan leaves, that’s it for me on FT! Who will I be able to argue with and be vilified by?

I’m sure summat else will come up to take his place but I feel part of my role on here will be lost!

In all sincerity though, I’m not surprised he’s off. But I am surprised about Mendy. He’d have been fine in the Championship. I suspect he doesn’t want to stay?

If Amartey is off to AC Milan I'm guessing Mendy is off to Real Madrid or Barcelona if is agent is half as good as big Dan's.

Every time he refused to go in for a 50/50 or let players stroll past him

Do you know what the phrase ‘throwing your toys out of the pram’ actually means?

I suppose there’s doing it directly like Mahrez going to the airport etc, and then there’s doing similar by not competing on the pitch. The sentiment is the same - aka ‘I don’t want to be here’

Slightly interesting they’ve announced the year option for Hamza, despite the fact this was already known, but not for George Hirst, who we also extended a year option for at the same time.

A sign he is off to Ipswich?

Hirst signed a new 4 year deal last summer.

Getting relegated and then losing your club captain, along with Tielemans, Maddison, maybe Barnes, and 6 other players would look terminal.

Luton towns highest paid player probably isn't on that. Pretty sure if you were negotiating with Hamza 20k tops would be plenty that's over a million a year.

Im sure I read that covs wage budget is less than 150k per week. For us to pay half of that on essentially a daddy cheer leader would be obscene in my eyes.

Or they're just keeping Evans in negotiations until the new manager is in place so he can then decide whether he wants him or not? The others don't want to be here or should just be moved on.
