I am sad to read this news, but only because it acts as a stark reminder for how badly the club has been mismanaged over the last 24 months.

 

I'm also not sure about Evans, he's a walking sicknote. IF he plays, sure he'd be a great player to have around, but if he plays as little as he has done over the last 2 years then what is the point?

The club need to be certain on Evans' fitness situation before agreeing to that contract extension. 

 

He made 14 appearances last season. The Championship is a relentless league for fixtures and we'll be playing in the earlier cup rounds too. If he's not going to be fit for at least 25-30 games, it's pointless and a waste of a wage.

 

Everyone else goes under a cloud with relegation and won't be overly fondly remembered but, with the exception of Bertrand whom I'm delighted to see the back of, I wish them all well enough.

That's 7 gone. About 500k a week on wages and at the very least, we'll be losing Maddison, Barnes, Castagne, Ndidi and probably Nacho too which would be another 500k minimum gone along with whatever we got for that lot in fees. I would conservatively say about £130m.

Sad to see some of them go. No point offering Evans an extension, hasnt the club learned giving contracts to sicknotes isnt worth it? No way he can handle the amount of games we will be playing and he's not exactly shined the last 2 years.
