I’d finally calmed down at end of last week and now I have Villa fans asking me how good Youri and Barnes are. Now I’m back angry. Ready to launch a Flair F U rant at every visible person at the club in a named role

Not sad to see Mendy go. It's completely the right time. His performances weren't all that, he just came in when we were really weak and underperforming in that area which made him look better. He most likely doesn't want to play in the Championship and I'm not convinced he'd stand out in it anyway.

Not a bad shout given how he’s downed tools and thrown his toys out the pram here and at Monaco.

When did he throw his toys out of the pram with us?

What's all this?!

Tweeted his support for Idrissa Gueye after he refused to play for PSG in their Football vs. Homophobia fixture because he's afraid of rainbows.

Love to see a mass exodus, but I also see no mention of Danny Ward? Please get rid...

The club is keeping him around in the hope that one day his no-look technique will produce a save.

I agree about Bertrand. But at the time he was seen as a replacement for Fuchs - ie one ageing left back for one not so old. As ever thought the warning signs came from friends of mine who support Saints who said he was well past it. Funny how supporters get things like this right a lot of time ahead of people who run football club recruitment.

I thought Bertrand was also excellent in the QPR pre-season friendly. Didn’t he get Covid shortly after and disappeared after that.

We need a fresh broom, clearout. New beginning. Thank the players for their service and wish them well but we need to move on. Just hope we can get more than adequate replacements.

He’s 5 foot something and we were conceding lots of goals from corners (is my guess)

...irrespective of who we had in the team, we were always last to get our heads on to set pieces by the opposition!!!

Apart from Vardy at the near post, he did not have to jump and beat a man, we were poor at defending corners and it had very little to do with having a diminutive figure in our team.

Disappointed about Mendy but that’s it. I know others had some good offers. Surprised we got rid of Mendy but extended Hamza.

Hamza has some sell on value. Mendy does not.

Slightly interesting they’ve announced the year option for Hamza, despite the fact this was already known, but not for George Hirst, who we also extended a year option for at the same time.

A sign he is off to Ipswich?

£20m+ per year off the wage bill. Personally, I hope that Evans agrees some form of pay-as-you-play deal. You can say what you like about him, but he always makes his partner (Soyuncu, Fofana, etc) look like a world-class centre back when he plays.

Mendy showed some glimpse of excitement but after a long seven years at the club we just never seen him reach full potential. So many managers managed him yet no one could get the best from him.

..I always felt that he was more than capable of transitioning our play but was never encouraged to do so!!!

It does seem strange that Rodgers attempted to make Ndidi a more progressive player, and failed to use a player, who was more capable with the ball at his feet to do the same.
