Our Internationals 23/24

Recommended Posts

Not strictly one of ours but thought maybe some of you might be interested to know one Leicester born  Charlie Savage (yes, that Savage) had a solid debut and contributed an assist for Wales last night.

Anyone feel old yet?

International Action For Casadei, Daka & Yunus
INTERNATIONALS

Three Foxes - Cesare Casadei, Yunus Akgün and Patson Daka - all starred on the international stage this Thursday.

- Yunus Akgün came on as a substitute for Turkey
- Patson Daka started Zambia's late loss to Egypt
- Cesare Casadei played in a friendly for Italy Under-21s

A 65th-minute substitute, introduced in place of İrfan Kahveci, Yunus helped Turkey to a 1-0 victory over Croatia in UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying.

Barış Alper Yılmaz's goal on the half-hour mark proved the difference at Opus Arena, moving the Crescent Stars to the top of Group D, three points ahead of 2023 UEFA Nations League runners-up Croatia with two games to play.

Next in action on Sunday, the Leicester City winger will be hoping for more minutes when Vincenzo Montella's side take on Latvia at Torku Arena (7:45pm kick-off).

In the United Arab Emirates, meanwhile, Daka started Zambia's 1-0 friendly defeat to Egypt, playing 80 minutes at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.

The Copper Bullets looked to have earned a draw against the seven-time Africa Cup of Nations champions, but a 94th-minute winner from Hamdi Fathi saw the Pharaohs claim victory in Abu Dhabi. A friendly encounter with Uganda at the same venue is up next on Tuesday (kick-off TBC).

The draw for the 2023 AFCON tournament was also made on Thursday, with Zambia in Group F alongside Moorocco, Congo and Tanzania.

Elsewhere, midfielder Cesare Casadei played for Italy Under-21s in a friendly against Italy Under-18s held in Tirrenia, in preparation for their next U21 EURO qualification match.

The Azzurri tackle Norway at Druso Stadium in Bolzano on Tuesday (4:45pm kick-off), heading into the match third in Group D, two points from top.

There's set to be more Foxes international action on Friday, with Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi in contention to play for Nigeria, Wout Faes potentially involved in Belgium's fixture and Australia's Harry Souttar in line for minutes against England. LCFC.com and LCFC's social media channels will have you covered across the evening.

I know I shouldn’t give a shit but Maddison starting for England in a meaningless friendly now he’s at spurs is bollox. Anyone saying it doesn’t matter who you play for it’s judged on how you perform for your club clearly hasn’t seen the fa and Southgates gospel of selection process. He wouldn’t even be considered if we’d of stopped up and he’d of stayed with us.
