Criticism is warranted. The extent of that criticism hasn't been. Frankly, it's pathetic at times as it always is with certain players on here. He's lots of posters favourite scapegoat so when he plays well, it's ignored, but 1 small mistake or rather, something he might have done better and he's committed a diabolical sin.

He's been nowhere near the level he was at when he got injured that's for sure. And you can't deny that lots of the goals have come down his side either. But watch the games and it's hardly like he's dropping clangers left, right and centre. Couple of times today in the match thread people were saying how awful after a couple of moments. Yet both of those came when we inexplicably gave the ball away deep in our own half so he couldn't possibly have been in the right position. And then you look at where Faes was both times and how we reacted as it was abysmal. Yet the blame falls to Justin.

Like most people, desperately want Ricardo in but I'd get Justin back in at left back (where his best football has been) because he's been a damn sight better than VK

For me that last paragraph is spot on. I think eventually Cooper will work that out along with Abdul coming in for Ayew. That said Ayew does offer a level of maturity and ability to hold up the ball and win fouls in good areas. Like wise VK always gives it 100% and has tenacity and aggression needed in this team. It’s a long season and we will need the whole squad to step up over time, vesty included.

Actually had a really good game I thought. Fingers crossed he can keep it up.

He defended very well until Sinisterra came on who turned him inside out a few times. One time should have probably led to them scoring but their header hit the bar.

Still seems quite obvious from watching that Justin should be at LB and Ricky at RB. It would add another dimension to our play.

im in such a conflict about it all. like you say, we know Justin has played his best games for us a left back, but I imagine Cooper likes the height and physicality of VK, which ultimately means he won't start Ricardo. obviously also a left footed left back opens up passing lanes that Justin can't use.

I think it's more simple then that, given his age and injury history I don't think Cooper thinks Ricardo can get up and down like Justin is being asked to

Did ok. Always to be out of position when their winger receives the ball by about 10 yards but mostly closes down ok but sometimes let's them come inside without a tackle.

He was blowing at about 70 mins and probably needed rotating with Ricky P but Coops is too blind to see it.

Both he and Buonanotte were done at 70mins and needed taking off. Buonanotte left on far too long, but i think JJ wont get rotated with Ricky until he get injured.

How bad does Justin have to be before he gets dropped? Wouldn’t be surprised if Ricardo is leading the “Cooper out” chants in the second half

I like JJ, seems a really good lad, but ultimately, he's a really obviously weakness in the team. So many goals come from his side and he's also vulnerable in the air, with those far post crosses often going over his head. He was amazing until his injury but he struggles to hold his position these days. Seems to get caught out several times a game.

He has had a good season so far, I will call it I think many on here are a bad judge of players and performances, there is an obsession with blaming players for goals conceded and then overlooking every other aspect of their game, then the old human bias confirmation kicks in where everything good is ignored and everything bad is blown up to confirm the original opinion, which is why we see so many posts so often claiming players need to go but they still get picked.

He should play on the left and let Ricardo play RB

Ricardo not being played is a stick to beat Cooper with, so they have to convince themselves his replacement is dreadful.

He's been a solid 7/10 all season.

More like a 5/10 he isn't very good on the right.

The lad’s bad decision making accounts for 10 goals off the top of my head.

That’s just calling bad for exactly what it is as backed up by statistics

He’s been making bad decisions - when to push and press which then leaves the rest of the defence overloaded or outnumbered. The goals at Fulham were a huge example of this.

Errors happen but some of the errors he’s made have a larger consequence.

He’s in poor form. Simple as

When he is allowing the opposition to get in behind or get balls into the box because of poor positioning, decision making or just crap defending, he absolutely does deserve blame

Ok so we have got it out of you, that you unfairly judge players that are the last one's involved before a goal.
