Harry Winks Officially Signs!

Subject to approval by EFL? Is that normal, in what grounds can they block it?

Ever the scientist, I put Winks into an FM save to see how he would get on and was genuinely surprised to see him boss the Championship and end up as player of the season. So based off that I’m now a total convert

Yeah most of our signings in recent years have said "subject to approval from the Premier League/UEFA/FIFA"

Him getting the 8 shirt might imply he will be a box-to-box player rather than a sitting DM. At this level he can probably do either role, but think him and KDH will overrun a lot of midfielders in this division. And whilst neither is that creative, we will be making chances through system football, so I think it will be less of an issue. 
 

That said I expect us to sign a creative midfielder too.

It’s tricky to know whether it’s a good signing or not. Some of us, including me, have got to get out of the Premier League mindset.

 

If we’d signed him last year we’d probably all agree it’s a very underwhelming signing - but we’re in the Championship now. At that level he might well be better than most in the league

That's the thing. He's got something to prove, so let's hope so. He managed to get capped 10 times for England so he must have some talent. No reason he can't perform in the Championship if the will is there.

Welcome aboard Harry!  This has the potential to be a really good signing for us.  If's, buts and maybe's of course.  A fit and motivated Winks as a deep lying playmaker could work very nicely with some of our speedy forwards.  Has a sweet right foot and not afraid to pick a pass. Very happy with this signing. COYB
