Smart signing.

England caps, coming into what should be his prime, been in a top level environment for years, good on the ball. For The Championship, that’s pretty rare to find.

Coady and Steffen next and then let’s go and spend a bit on some up and coming youngsters!

Yup, agree. I think Rodgers got left behind in the thinking that we have to have a creative player to create.

PL or Championship, We need (needed) fitness first. That fits into a system. Then, at the end, finessed with talent.

I remember Wes or Liam Moore after their first PL game v Everton commenting how fast and strong (I'm guessing in terms of how hard to knock off balance)  their opponents were compared to championship. I'm hoping we see this sesson hard running, players with superior balance and strength and  streetwise off the ball movement. All of that will outperform a creative playmaker for this season.

At the same time, I want a playmaker too lol!

There’s different types though; a 10 type that drifts between the lines or a pocket dynamo like Bernardo. I think someone who could play 10 is better as I have high hopes that Braybrooke might be able to play 10 or so games to rotate with Winks.

Leicester City Sign Harry Winks From Tottenham Hotspur

Leicester City Football Club is pleased to confirm the transfer of midfielder Harry Winks from Tottenham Hotspur on a three-year-deal, subject to EFL approval.

- Harry Winks joins Leicester City from Tottenham Hotspur

- The midfielder has agreed a three-year-deal with the Foxes

- He has won 10 international caps for England

The 27-year-old, who is a product of Tottenham’s youth system, spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Italian side Sampdoria, playing 20 times in Serie A and has made 10 appearances for England.

In total, the midfielder made more than 200 appearances for Tottenham since his debut in 2016 and adds important strength, experience and quality to the Club’s midfield ranks ahead of the new 2023/24 campaign.

Speaking to LCFC TV, he said: “I’m delighted. I’m really excited for the challenge ahead. It’s an amazing club with great history and the facilities are incredible. I’m just so happy to be here and ready to get going.

“I’m looking forward to getting started, to have a full pre-season with the team and come here early to get ready for the games coming up. It’s going to be an important few weeks to get everyone ready and to push myself getting fit.

“I’m also looking forward to a new challenge and to challenge myself. Coming to a club like Leicester is the perfect chance to do that.”

After progressing through Tottenham’s academy, Winks made his senior debut for the club in a UEFA Europa League clash against FK Partizan in November 2014.

He then made his Premier League debut at home to Liverpool in August 2016 before going on to play a further 32 times in all competitions in 2016/17.

His development continued the following season, featuring in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, with his performances earning him his senior England debut against Lithuania in October 2017.

He later helped Tottenham to the final of the UEFA Champions League in June 2019, starting in the final of the competition against Liverpool in Madrid.

Last season, he joined Sampdoria on loan, featuring on 20 occasions in the Italian top-flight.

Internationally, Winks has represented England up to senior level, earning 10 caps for the Three Lions and scoring his first goal against Kosovo in November 2019.

27 🤯 I thought he was about 20/21

Joins the pantheon of great Harrys at the club.

Kane. Maguire. Worley.

What an act to follow.

In all seriousness, I hope he finds a home here and proves a lot of the doubters wrong. Best of luck to him.

I do have a good feeling about him, but i’m not sure if that’s just because he’s a likeable guy.

Im a strong believer in listening to the fans from the club they are leaving and i’m yet to find a spurs fan who thinks he can’t hack it.

majority expecting him to be one of the best players in the league.

he fits maresca, maresca fits him. He seems like he is a no drama type of guy who will help us recreate that culture. If injuries stay kind to us, i think we’ll be happy with this at the end of the day.

Let’s be honest, we wouldn’t have been shocked to sign him last season, so if we still land him in a lower division it’s not a bad sign.

Would be more difficult to find a player worse than tielemans last season. I hope he does well for us but I’m not convinced.

How very apt your user name is :-)
