Harry Winks Officially Signs!

Soon as his name was thrown in the ring..like Coady...

I knew the BS had stopped & the challenge began..

.Finding a bit of class is what we needed,that if we can be positive and take up that return at the  first attempt 

We needed well known,but quiet buys..

IMO they both fit the bill...The same has the choice on manager...

 

What we ballsed-up last 2 seasons,we seem to be pulling some credit back.

The fans are still hurting, but so far the right noise,nous and small pace wisdom is being layed down.

I still would like to see a couple of skillfull hard bastards , picked up on the way...

I would like us to see if we can pull out a made to measure club captain..No LCFC baggage..A fresh chiselled face..

A case of one step back two forward for Winks. Speaking to a friend who is a spurs fan he thought he was someone who really fell off. However, made a point that it wasn’t very long ago that Winks ran the midfield against Real Madrid. Could be a master stroke.

Clearly has the potential to be a very good player for us. Particularly in this division.

You don't play for your country at every level on several occasions and have 100+ premier league appearances without being of a good standard.

Happy with this. If he’s happy to drop down to the Championship and fight for promotion that’ll do me. Not a marquee signing but he’s as steady as they come for where we are.

Even if he just puts in a shift, passes effectively and doesn't give away possession, he'll be doing better than some of our squad last season.

He’s got to stay fit.

The Championship is a rough, tough slog of midweek games, followed by Saturday games.

We can’t carry anyone this coming season. 
10 mill is a risk, I think, for a tidy but injury prone player.

But I’d say that for the whole squad. Keeping them as fit as, is essential this season.

PL or Championship, We need (needed) fitness first. That fits into a system. Then, at the end, finessed with talent. 

 

I remember Wes or Liam Moore after their first PL game v Everton commenting how fast and strong (I'm guessing in terms of how hard to knock off balance)  their opponents were compared to championship. I'm hoping we see this sesson hard running, players with superior balance and strength and  streetwise off the ball movement. All of that will outperform a creative playmaker for this season.

The problem with solely relying on a creative playmaker is that if the system is not right, the creative playmaker can hardly get the ball and plays break down easily because the rest of the players are not in sync. Rodgerball suffered horribly in that department.

You’d have to worry a bit that he’s done, not quite Drinkwater esque but once a footballer is mentally checked out, there’s no coming back.

I've got an extremely good feeling about this signing, along with Coady, just seems like we've taken the right approach to resetting the mentality of the team, getting in experienced pros, with talent and know how, who appear to have good attitudes and with something to prove too. It reeks of Big Wes, Robert Huth, Konchesky, Dave Nugent and that can only stand us in good stead.

His ambition was a massive driving force for me.

"It's always nice to be wanted as well, and to feel wanted by a manager, especially someone with his [Enzo Maresca's] pedigree as a player and his coaching credentials."

On his decision to move away from the Premier League: "I felt that, at this stage in my career, it was a great point to come and learn, improve as a player, and hopefully get back to the level where Leicester deserve to be, but also where I believe I can get to as well.

"For the last few years, all I've wanted to do is play football, be seen in more of an important and key role, and to be respected as a player. Sometimes it's so easy to fall down, not get many minutes, and not play as regularly as you'd like.

"For me, not playing as regularly and being in and out of the team wasn't something I was happy with."

On his ambitions for this season: "It's naive and a bit arrogant to say that we're going to go into the season, win every game and get promoted. I think that's a really difficult thing to do. We'll have to fight, show a different side, be aggressive and maybe have our backs against the wall.

"As the manager said, the Premier League and the Championship are two very different leagues. You have to approach it in the right way because otherwise you can get punished."

Really liked this interview, seems genuinely happy to be here, the drop down was no problem for him and it seems he has a desire to make a name for himself. I do honestly think that he will be a cracking player for us, one of those that has a bit of meh reputation but when you actually see them live playing for your club you realise what a quality player they are.

Winks or Coady should get the Captains armband. He's going to be a really important player for us, As he's the only proper midfielder we have who can actually play football. 

We need him to stay fit and get us off to a good start while we bring in another skillful player. ( Probably the Chelsea lad. ) As we're going to have to rotate players with so many games to play.

I'm confident Winks is going to be a big success here once he settles in.
