But if the whole philosophy of how the new manager wants us to play is based around a keeper who can play out from the back, then Iversen is not going to be right for us. We need more than just a decent shot stopper.

Exactly we can't afford to be sentimental when implementing a new way of playing otherwise it won't work, so would be entirely silly if the system fell flat on its arse because we didn't want hurt a professional footballer's feelings.

I like Iversen and should have been the club's No1 last season a very capable goalkeeper that will grow into a top keeper. But if Enzo wants a different option based on skill set to ensure the system works then we have to back that, have confidence in the decisions we make and embrace the much needed changes we need.

It's not how bad Iversen's distribution is when he kicks it, it's how indecisive he is at releasing the ball and we seem to miss lots of opportunities to get on the front foot. It was very noticeable, probably my only major gripe with him.

I think it’s both ric

Maresca will consider it vital to have a keeper who makes quick calls and can play with both feet

iverson or ward will mean we can’t play the way that the new coach wants us to - infact playing his way will probably lead to us conceding goals with either of those two

I think he is genuinely poor… and the only reason he has got such good plaudits is because Ward was a useful as John Hammond  running a zoo.

Like you say, Iversen just isn’t going to suit Enzo’s style, and it’s alright some fans getting sentimental…. But what’s the point in sticking with him when he will be a clear weak link. We’ve made those mistakes before, mistakes are what we’ve got to stop making…. So sorry Iversen, you’re in the bin pal.

Would not be surprised to see Alex Neil come in for Iversen this summer. £3-4m will do it.

Alex Neil is way too small to be a keeper - rudders would pay the fee though 😉

Can’t see us getting that sort of money for an unwanted keeper with little experience.

Probably between £1.5/£2mill.

Burnley also interested too apparently...

Why would they want to replace their current keeper?

Seem to be going for a new number 1, even with how well Muric did last season

Lost out on Verbruggen from the Belgian League to Brighton, had bid £13m for him

Bid £8m for a guy called Jean Butez who is also in the Belgian League

He replies with such coy answers to cover his back.

Tbf he is just a journalist, the lad is away playing in the under 21 euro championship hasn’t conceded and there are going to be more suitors the more they progress.

Nothing is cast iron at this stage, hence the article being “we are on the trail of Trafford”

We need to stop being a sentimental club when it comes to players. Iversen is not premier league standard and that’s where we want to be. If an improvement is available then we should be taking them.

Part of the reason we are where we are. Our recruitment often was to fill the squad rather than attempting to improve the first 11. I feel sentiment to some players played a huge role in that.

I saw a tweet earlier saying we were looking to buy not loan which changes things, I am in favour of buying this lad from what I have seen

Interesting that you have to pay to see Nixon's feed. Not a bad earner, even if he gets only 300 or so paying 2 quid a month

I wonder how much that shithead Benyamin Jacobs charges?

I’d be shocked if we actually buy him, he’ll be England no.1 within a year if he went to the right prem club so very doubtful we’ll get him

hyperbolic much? Ramsdale got rave reviews playing for Arsenal and still can't get a game, he may not even be the number 2 no way Trafford is England number one within a year with Southgate as manager
