X (was Twitter)

Recommended Posts

He is not a genius, never was,  never will be.

There is no grand plan... he just always wanted a business called x.... now the one he bought for 3x times what it is now worth is named that.

He is not paying his employees what he agrred to, he has told his managers not to pay rents and has said just tie them up in court.

These fvckers are WORSE than the kings during feudalism

The whole app is riddled with "never been touched" incel Musk fanbois. Uninstalled it and never looked back as it's been utterly ruined.

It's either weird Musk fanboys, fake people trying to sell their OnlyFans or just general trolls.

Musk is a lonely clout-chasing twat and Twitter is a cesspit absolutely chocka with a mixture of his fanboys who are desperate, right-wing incels and insecure narcissists thirsting over the dopamine hit you get from the slightest bit of validation from strangers.

Agree he isn't a genius but he has been prepared to take a lot of risks to transform two industries. Rocket launches are becoming cheaper and Tesla has had a massive influence on giant car companies. To be fair Starlink kind of works too. Twitter was always a bad idea to takeover, even he knew that and tried to get out of it. He definitely has more money than sense now.

He comes from the same stock as 99% of billionaires: extreme financial privilege.

His family owned emerald mines FFS.

Risk requires fear of loss... he doesnt have that fear, his obscene wealth means his risk is equal to me risking $5 on us being promoted.

He bought Tesla and space x ideas or starlink... He didnt create them, just bought other peoples genius and claimed credit

Speaking on the general and specific topics here:

- Twitter has become an example for the internet equivalent of what happens when you let a Nazi have a drink at your bar; pretty soon you have a Nazi bar. Musk either was too naive to see that coming or saw it coming and was actually OK with it, for whatever reason.

- I'm overjoyed that manned spaceflight programs are finally coming back to the fore after far too many lost years, and SpaceX has had a big part to play there. And I don't think that would have happened sans Musk's direction as CEO, but who knows.

Deleted the account and instantly improved my life.

I've never had twitter and instagram accounts. The most social media i have had is facebook (deleted in 2011 or so) and foxestalk.

Figured i never wanted anything tied back to me that could damage me, my family or career. I decided,  if I was going to do that then the only place I could do that was right here. One love.

Musk has shed any pretence of brilliance or genius since buying Twitter - he's been revealed for what he is, a complete ****ing idiot.

Your brand language and identity becoming so well-recognised, commonplace and ubiquitous that it becomes a verb is like gold dust - it never happens. To give all that brand equity up to rebrand as X - which is most commonly associated with porn sites, is bordering on insanity. Imagine Google changing their name and losing 'Google it'. Beggars belief.

it will be known as Twitter X so not that bad, if anything it's genius as he has created another brand within it.

I'm still using it, I only look at the posts of people I actually follow. I have always liked it for easy, instant access to news, MSE updates and a bit of footie gossip. There are now more adverts but I generally just ignore them.

Elon musk is proof how you just need a leg up and a bit of luck to to be super successful. The man's an absolute moron.

Just look at the farce that was the "Hyperloop". He's a con artist and a charlatan and always has been. I'm so glad that people see his true colours nowadays because I was tearing my hair out before when most people thought he was some kind of genius because he's rich and says zany things. Still, he's a good indicator of whether or not you're speaking to a moron if they start praising him.

He's completely ruined it. Don't know about anyone else but my timeline is now regularly infiltrated by videos of people having horrific accidents, nearly dying or actually dying, usually from an account named 'secondsbeforedisaster' or something similar. I've genuinely never shown any previous interest in such content. It's both bizarre and disturbing.

I keep getting videos of people doing magic tricks too, something else I've never shown any interest in.

It has definitely got worse. However, have you checked if you're or the 'for you' bit of the 'following' bit. If you make sure it's on following you should only get the accounts that you actually follow showing up and not random crap you're not bothered about.

Not a fan of Twitter but I do feel like his weirdness/ quirkiness has helped bring some innovative thinking to space technology and electric cars/ self driving technology . Someone had to get the ball rolling so that  the technology can be improved upon.

He’s played his part, i just wish he wasn’t so annoying…

The guy is weird.

Like you say, the innovation in EV's and space travel in the companies he's involved with is unreal.

Some people worship him, some people detest him.

Personally, I couldn't give a shit. But he's definitely got a plan where this whole twitter thing is going.

He's apparently worth $239 billion.

That's BILLION.

Can you even comprehend the difference between a million and a billion? It's actually mindblowing.

If Twitter folded tomorrow, I reckon he'd still be OK.

he wants to emulate a Chinese app that is the equivalent of combing twitter,Facebook Amazon tinder and a few other industry leaders over here weibo? It might be called. Anyway, he hopes to copy that with twitter and kind of evolve it. If that’s his plan, I can see you’d need an automatic audience of millions to start with so the purchase makes sense..

i just cringe whenever I see him post anything on twitter, which is kind of ironic. I suppose he wants to keep himself relevant… kind of like the twitter version of trump. Which is actually more accurate than I intended, come to think of it…

Not Weibo (Weibo is more like Facebook). He says he wants to be like WeChat. As someone who lives in China and uses WeChat for everything the best way I can describe it is it's WhatsApp with an instagram like "moments" section and tiktok like "channels" section. But where it's different is the QR payment system which you can use to pay for everything and other useful things built in like Didi (essentially uber) and things like train booking, ways to pay your phone bill, pay utilities and lots more which I haven't discovered. The one thing it doesn't have is the Amazon like function which you mentioned.
