At the rate we are going, our defence is going to be Thomas. Faes, Vestergaard, Ricardo

…… we’ve seen how this plays out.

I hate to see any player injured but that means he's likely to be here next season.

As it will likely be April again he gets back playing.

Exactly my thoughts, I was hoping he would be one to leave in January to help create funds to bring in new players.

No loss. Is always a liability when ever he plays, fit or not. Would look to get off the books next summer now. Sure a return to Denmark would appeal to him having been in our circus nearly 3 years.

Weird comments in here.

Yes he's a limited footballer but I've seen nothing to suggest he's a bad lad or has the arrogance of the likes of Faes etc. He doesn't deserve getting pelters imo.

He's about as brave as a church mouse. Simply not up to it.

The blokes a complete wimp.

Isn't Ricardo due an injury soon?       (sorry, shouldn't joke about things like that)

Fair play

You’re exonerated

Now where’s Chocolate Teapot?

Tbf, again, nothing wrong with the manager (in this instance, Rodgers) saying he wants players/backing but then it comes back to the guy with the job title "Director of Football".

Can't pick and choose what to blame Rudkin/the Board for.

Plenty wrong imo

He could no longer get a tune from Tielemans, Barnes, Maddison, Soyuncu who all left for bigger and better clubs than us.

Clearly also Rodgers was given more reign (than we normally give a manager) in terms of signing who he wanted- how else did we end up with Benkovic, Bertrand and Bennett? That view is backed up by us signing Rodgers’ mate (forgot his name now) who had an awful reputation and went on to briefly manage Atlanta

The fault of the board was giving him that reign, and agreeing to the signings and putting them on ridiculously long contracts. Not the actual choosing of players.

There's plenty to blame Rodgers for, but I don't think we can chastise him for signing someone who arrived at the club 6 months before he did

I'm not disagreeing it was time for him to go, and with the squad we had we should have been performing better, but you're criticising Rudkin/Board for signings under some managers but not others (mainly because you continue your dislike for Rodgers). I have not a clue if Rodgers was given more reign than other managers, that is something that seems to crop up a lot without actual evidence, but overall our signings ended up not good enough and I attribute that to Rudkin/Board because it's been happening over a long period now and under different managers. The actual choosing of players, transfer fees and long contracts have been appalling. Even under Maresca, a successful manager here, we wasted money on Cannon and Coady.

Don't know who a thread about a left back, again a poor signing, has turned into this but it's all on Rudkin/Board and nobody else.

IIRC Rodgers took him to Celtic from us, then brought him back to here after Rodgers joined us, but didn’t play him?

Well you only have to read about Rodgers’ “transfer committee” he was interviewed about whilst managing Liverpool to imagine something similar happened here when we offered him that massive new contract. Especially when you add Lee Congleton joining/following Rodgers. You only have to join the dots

He was signed under Puel in August 2018 – you can't really blame Rodgers for him being on our books. Plenty of other shite you can though!
