Pretty poor from us but a tough fought win. Full credit to Warnock he has us completely sussed and his team were very well drilled, if they were sharper infront of goal it could easily have been a loss today, so plenty to work on, but refreshing to see is trying something new and have a clear direction of how we want to play.

I don't think anyone can really criticise the defence today they did their job and we knocked a goal. Hopefully confidence boosting for all.

I mean Vesty can't be that bad, he's a or was Danish international. He confidence along with many others was absolutely destroyed by that elite level coach Brendan Rodgers and his masterful man management.

It's gonna take some time for the clouds to lift, but Vestergard is probably an able deputy with is experience.

Didn’t manage to see any of the game but a wins a win doesn’t have to be pretty just get out this league asap as if we don’t this season it will be harder for a few years after . Good for mavididi to get a goal and a clean sheet for the lad in goal. Can’t play pretty all the time up the foxes x

Also, I would like to add that we need quality reinforcements if we have aspirations to get promoted to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Being a 46-game season, fatigue, injuries, and suspension (you name it) are inevitable, for that, we need to quickly get signings over the line and sell players that are looking to depart.

I’ve been one of his biggest critics and was desperate for him to be moved on, but you’ve got to give the credit when it’s due…

He was very good today.

I just don’t see it. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I have some sort of unconscious bias due to his previous but whatever it is, I can’t see how any of his performances can be classed as very good. We’ve had some shocking moments defensively against relatively poor sides. Faes was very much part of that defence. Any way, it’s an opinion game, I’ll hope I’m wrong. I still think we are a decent defensive pairing from a very good side.

They are a football team and we are in the second flight.

Of course opposition teams will create chances. They aren’t just going to roll over and die.

I can’t recollect them having many clear-cut chances though? That’s the important indicator.

Even if they’d have scored I’d have backed us to equalise though.

Do people really think we’ll just turn up every week, play brilliantly and walk the division? It seems like this is the mind-set of a lot of ‘fans’.
I suggest re-set yourselves and just watch us. As in, get the streams or attend the games. THEN start to consider whether Maresca is heading the team in the right direction.

I really do dismay sometimes over what I read on here. Have you learnt nothing from last season?

We ARE in transition.

It’s a TOUGH division.

Teams WILL score against us.

The important thing to ask yourselves is are we heading in the right direction?

From what I’m watching (so far), yes we are.

Well you werent watching very closely then because they had multiple sitters.

In relation to your post none of your points are a response to my post, yes we are a team in transition, no i dont expect us to look defensively solid against opponents with the personnel we have. My comment was stating that if we are going to gain promotion then we need better centrebacks than we have available, currently the opposition are getting as many or more good chances than we are a game, as we saw last season defensive frailties can quickly spiral into a lack of faith and a bad run of form.

At the end of the day im only saying what i see, there's clearly a vision but defensively we're a mid table championship side. If we're going to improve under maresca we need to back him in the transfermarket more than we already have, unlike Rodgers Maresca's transfer target seem to be solid so far.

Although you can't argue with the points tally, I dont think Enzo will be too pleased with our performances. We were average today and definitely need a RW and AM.

Went to the game. If the reality of relegation hadn’t hit home yet it certainly did today.

Pretty much everything about that game was Championship. Four turnstiles for £2K fans, I mean really? And about two guys pulling pints.

Same goes for what was on the pitch. We were rubbish really, didn’t create much at all and our goal was fortunate.

Just got to get the points on the board though I suppose.

Another 3 points on this Championship Journey that’ll do onto the next one Enzo is proving we made the right choice for the job, I don’t care if we win 1-0 every game put points on the table to get our asses back into the Premier League is the most important thing we need to do !

Went to watch non league today but kept up to date with the match thread, well done sounded like a hard fought win at a tricky place, champions win when they don't play well and this bodes well for us as we still have to finalise the squad.

If we can recruit well with a quality winger, attacking midfielder (Casadei) and possibly another striker and defender, we'll have an excellent season.

If you look at the stats you’ll see that we have started very strongly this term.

Today, we had 17 shots in total, with 6 on target and had approx 40% of possession. This is good for an away game.

Yes, they missed an absolute sitter but as soon as we scored, they didn’t look like replying.

As much as we look good going forward, I’m as pleased that we seem to have tidied up the defence. Faes was excellent today and I really like the look of young Doyle.

In the Championship, todays game was a potential banana skin. We came through it with all three points and didn’t really struggle too much imo.

On a day where Southampton lost at home, Birmingham beat Leeds and Middlesbrough got thrashed by the Cov scum, coming going to Huddersfield and collecting all three points indicates a pretty solid side who aren’t easy to beat.

And again, this is far more enjoyable than it was last season in the top flight.

Agree fully with you, we have to remember also our first two games (Cov and Huddersfield) are managed by managers that you could argue with regards to organisation and the way they set their teams up to play, are two of the best in the league with regards to structure.

If anything I think come Christmas our strength in depth will show it’s importance massively considering 22 other teams are going to have the same issues but no way near the quality waiting in the wings.

A few players we haven’t even included in the match day squad today could play premier league football. Don’t forget that. We just need to fix the balance within the squad (wingers and centre mids).

Winning ugly and grinding out results is the only way out of this league .... need a 20 goal striker and once Coady is fit  we will have the team to take us up

If Iheanacho starts regularly he'll get 20. He'll have some clunkers for sure, but he'll also have some multi goal games. Keep starting him.

The worst thing about not seeing a game is trying to ascertain how people played from the polarised opinions of those who did.

meh... ive never met @Raj but from your descriptions, i feel very well informed about him

I'm feeling very reassured by the fact we've won 3 from 3 despite being clearly nowhere near our potential. Feeling quite confident we'll go up, if I'm honest.

The very fact we are one of just two teams with 2/2 shows how mad this league is and if we are managing to string results together whilst still in the transition phase can only be positive!

Definitely. It's obviously a bit reactionary to say this but I'd not be shocked if us and Ipswich actually did finish as the top two. We have the quality (and ability to bring in more), Ipswich's numbers were frankly ridiculous, loads of green flags about them.

People are going to have to learn to be more patient. I'm one of them too and at times watching yesterday was hard work and I was far more on edge than needed to be but after sleeping on it I realise there wasn't much wrong with yesterday's performance.

Praet and KDH both should have scored, Iheanacho could and should have been more decisive on a couple of occasions and we could have been talking about a win by 3 or 4 goals and absolutely no one would be criticising the performance. Out of the chances Huddersfield created only 1 or 2 of them were dangerous efforts, the others were decent long range shots.

We are a winger and a midfielder short of this all coming together very nicely, on early showings and I do worry about our forward options, especially if anything should keep either Vardy or Kel out for a period of time.

Teams will come to rough us up, that was a typical Warnock showing from Huddersfield yesterday and we weathered the storm really with relative ease.

There were moments in the game yesterday that showed that we're not all on the same wavelength yet and we're still learning and adapting. Little touches, flicks and passes not quite hitting the mark, so if we can pick up results up until it clicks then I'm excited for when it does.

Can't really be over critical of any of the players yesterday, we were away from home against a team that tried to bully us a little and play yo the ref, and came away with a win.

Decent win. 44 more. I still think a defensive pairing of Faes and Vestegaard is not that of a team capable of promotion. Both are incredibly mediocre and that’s being kind. The sooner Coady is back the better. Our defence in both games has looked shocking and we’ve need the keepers and luck to keep the ball out. Both need replacing.

September is going to be a big test for the team Saints followed by Norwich. Just keep winning and improving until then.

Faes is very good for this level, no mediocre at all. Worry about the next level up as and when we get there.

The problem is Vestergaard. If Coady was fit and it was Faes - Coady - Doyle, there’d be no issue.

I don’t think we have much of a squad depth. We didn’t put certain players on the bench today cos they will hopefully be sold etc.

As a result we had two keepers on the bench

Exactly the sort of game we need to win if we are to go back up straight away. Despite what many people think, Warnock is no fool and knows what to do very well at this level to set up sides, organise them, and be competitive. So, let's take the scrappy, ugly one nil away win that I reckon many thought when we went down, we would not have been capable of doing.

I agree with this, there wasn’t much attacking options to change the game if required
