Need to look at other targets now. Try and get Lascelles on loan

Careful with the loans. We could end up with lots of players who don't need to be here next year, which affects the way they receive criticism and how they respond when the chips are down. It also gives us a lot to do in the summer just to maintain the quality we have already, and few assets to sell on in order to return to our erstwhile way of operating. You don't want to go up and need 11+ newbies, or an £80m+ outlay, in order to be competitive. We need to use the FLC, be it for one or two years, to develop players, or you'll give yourself too much to do down the line.

So players won't want another season in the championship BUT you worry that Leeds may get him. Does this make sense for you because it doesn't for me?

It's exactly what my point is. The guy is too good for this league and I'd be heavily surprised if he had another season in this league. Therefore if he goes to Leeds, I'd make them favourites because it would be a hell of a coup.

Some people don't read every single post in every thread. Less attitude maybe, this ain't hackney geezer.

We're one of the few exceptions, it's not like he's going Sunderland.

A progressive manager he knows, some PL quality players here and to the outsider we may look like aPL club on a one year sabbatical. Tottenham are reportedly interested in Faes so with the right offer and the ability to get Harwood Bellis we may yet be interested.

I thought he was the next one in after AFI so quite surprised by that. Wanting a minimum three in now we're actually clearing the space for it.

I was told by someone I trust that we had agreed terms with the player, and he had even been shown around Seagrave.

Things can and do change quickly in football, but it would surprise me if we don't see him here. Only thing I can say is that we had also agreed terms with Jeserun Rak-Sakyi, but that one also fell through because of a change of circumstances at Palace.

Thanks for sharing! I thought the wording of Percy's article was interesting - said "It is understood" and pointed to Maresca 'being unlikely to sign him' rather than the club.

The use of 'it is understood' gives him a bit of wriggle room if this is wrong - he doesn't sound certain of this and looks like he's got that info from elsewhere. The fact he mentions Maresca specifically seems to suggest he's changed his mind on him, but that might be overly inferring.

So VK to Bologna and Luke Thomas potentially going to Sheffield United. Two defenders out, decent players who just don't suit the manager's system

We need another defender IMO. Whether that's going to be THB or someone else. It's a long season and there's definitely going to be injuries and suspensions along the way.

Can anyone else think of a time when Percy was out and out wrong I.E said a deal was happening and then it didn’t or vice versa? Asking for my own hopes and dreams

Pure conjecture on my behalf, but it could also be a case of someone in training impressing him (Nelson, JJ?) to the extent that he is happy with the options he has at his disposal.

But in a prior press conference, Maresca very specifically called out wanting a centre back. So it would surprise me greatly if he longer wants one. Maybe he wants another one instead, but we've seen no other links to anyone else... yet.

But they have bought Trafford off Man City with a buy back so what’s the difference here?

Maybe the comments from Woy about not wanting him to go

It was rumoured at the time that Citeh wanted £15mill for him and that a buyback of around £35mill was suggested. And Burnley thought that was too big a price for a player with one year left on his contract and didn't fancy the BB.

Rumours.

Fleetwood Mac.

On Spotify, Apple Music, and all good book stores...

Any updates on Coady? We’re potentially only two or three games away from him being available? That might change our defensive options and influence where we focus our transfer activity in next few days.

Ah ok. The post I replied to read as though Burnley are against them in general but makes sense if it was the specific terms of that deal.

That’s the most surprising post I think I recall you ever writing.

You are, of course, absolutely correct.

We need a centre back

Enzo wants a centre back

He has worked with Enzo before

Would be playing alongside a lad he knows and has already played with in Doyle

Has already won this league

Only 21 and a very good chance we would be able to buy him permanently next summer if we go up

Available on loan so we don't have to fork out and buy him now

If we don't push to try and get him I will be fuming

tbf Tanner said we are looking at him, so it wouldnt shock me if we put in a bid for him too, but more loan to buy next season

I mean if he doesn't want to sign for us we should say to him that you can go your own way and  we wont chase you again- we are never going back again to that. BB clauses feel like a chain around your neck. I don't want to know the reasons why he doesnt want to sign because  it will kill my dreams. Besides, this is second hand news so it might not even be true
