He’s a solid young player that has plenty of potential. Think also Southampton, Norwich and Boro have all been interested aswell. So obviously we're not the only ones who think he's an asset.

Complain about us taking a punt on foreign players like Akgun and Ishaaku. Complain about getting players on loan. Now complaining about signing a young striker for a relatively small fee. I'm no fan of Rudkin, but some of the moaning is just for the sake of it. I'm sure it's so can get some weird satisfaction from saying 'I told you this player (I knew **** all about) would be a failure" So frustrating isn't it? 8

Just looked from the comps like he will drop a bit deeper create space and link play like Nacho has been doing this season. He's in the fifth percentile ( ) for passes attempted. And that's against just other strikers!! He's pretty mobile, most of his goals for Preston were either him finding space in the box or getting in behind. One thing he has that Vardy lacks is he's much better at progressive carries and succesful take ons. He isn't Messi but he's a bit of a better dribbler than Vards or Daka. Albeit a successful take on obviously can still just be knocking it past someone and doing them for pace. IMO we had Piroe lined up when we thought Iheanacho was going but now we expect to lose Daka it's Cannon. Piroe is all about hold up and link up play, Cannon is all about vertical movement We're looking to replace the players we're losing. The fact its Cannon in tells me Iheanacho is 99% staying personally. Edited 1 September 2023 by Finnegan 7

The Mahrez situation was a complete freak pick up, which even though it was only 9 years ago, would not happen these days due to the rise of statistical insights. Remember we weren't even scouting him, Walsh went to watch someone else and then saw something in him. 1
Bryn Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Yeah I think Nacho stays and we accept that we don't get a fee. We've done quite well getting rid of people so maybe we've just budgeted for that loss.

Popular Post Stadt Posted 1 September 2023 Popular Post Posted 1 September 2023 Iheanacho has a year left, Vardy is on the wane, Daka isn't in Maresca's plans at all. A 20 year old signed up for 4 or 5 years is what we need. A big reason we ended up in the shit was the lack of long term planning - this is a Justin style signing, almost all upside for a moderate outlay. 8

Grebfromgrebland Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 This is done, Daka just waiting for a visa to leave for Milan. Not a bad swap out as we potentially save some money overall. 2
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Genius or folly? I will withhold judgement until at least his 2nd game. 😉

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Him and Nacho with Vards mentoring them. Daka goes and it's a fantastic window. 1
Muzzy_no7 Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Did he play up front on his own for PNE last season? We need someone capable of playing as a lone striker.

Remember we weren't even scouting him, Walsh went to watch someone else and then saw something in him. Mahrez had been technically scouted and the club were aware of him. They weren't looking at him as his position wasn't a priority at the time, probably because we had Knockeart already. The technical scouting in that period was immense and ahead of its time. I suspect it's because Pearson bought into that type of scouting that it was as successful as it was.

Yes but 5th percentile is still crazy. I don't care what style of play Preston play, if 95% of other strikers have attempted more passes than you then you're probably not coming in to play the Iheanacho pseudo-10 role. For context, Patson Daka is in something like the 55th percentile. 5th is very much peak Jamie Vardy. 1

Groby_Blue Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 That is a very impressive showreel. Young, hungry, knows how to score, will really give us options to open defences with the midfielders running on. Can't see anything but a plus with this signing, if it happens.
