Tough game this one. Blackburn is a horrible place to go to, particularly if the weather is shite.

I think it’ll be a Desmond

I also refer to my degree as a Desmond.

Waiting for the @StriderHiryu analysis but I suspect Blackburn set up in a way which would play right into our hands aka leaving a lot of space.

The problem with looking at how teams "normally" play is that there's nothing normal about us this year and everybody knows it already.

Bristol City don't normally park the bus in the way they did against us, for example.

Yes there'll be the odd Norwich or Southampton that try (and fail) to stick to their "usual" game plan but a lot of teams are going to mix it up entirely.

It's hard to predict who exactly is going to come to the KP and park the bus vs who is going to "give it a go."

On their forums they are of the view their defence is really weak and the goalkeeper pants. We should be doing these, then put some light between us and preston next week would be class.

Blackburn is one of those "Oh yeah, forgot about them" clubs.

For me, they were at their funniest when they were owned by that chicken factory family. They appointed an egg with a Scottish accent as manager – who then duly got them relegated.

We owe them a performance, though, after that woeful, Rodgersball-induced result last season.

They still are owned by the Venkys.

3 times champions of England

6 times FA Cup winners

1 times League Cup winners

Good historic club and pretty successful when you consider the size of the town.

It’s probably only within the last 25 years that they’ve become less high profile than teams like us really

That's exactly my point. They've been so poor for so long, that you (well I, at least) forget about them. Arguably should be doing much better than they are - historic club.

Top quizzing!! Must be the case surely

Confirmed on the Liverpool commentary I think. Definitely heard it somewhere, could have been talksport when discussing our game with Liverpool in advance (just that they were covering it) but think it was the tellybox

Goalkeeper one is interesting. Pears has been poor and they miss Kaminsky who went to Luton.

The goalkeeper they signed in the summer Wahlstedt is really good though, linked to a lot of prem clubs before he joined Blackburn.

He's put in two good cup appearances so i wonder whether we might see him at the weekend.

Judging from their forums, their fans expect Wahlstedt to play on Sunday.

I was interested to see what our Premier League starting eleven was when they dumped us out of the cup last year.

Out of that team there is a strong possibility that 4 might play this time around.

Of the others I’d probably say that the current side is better than last year’s team. Only Harvey Barnes is one who you might argue could improve our likely starting eleven.

That’s before you start taking recent form and confidence into account. Also we have a much more settled style of play, approach and consistent coaching

Whether all this makes any difference at all - we shall see

Enzo Maresca Pre-Match Press Conference vs Blackburn Rovers

Doyle injury?

“Between 12 and 16 weeks."

More on Doyle?

“I said in the press conference before Liverpool that he is the only player, being left-footed, that we have been unlucky. That position, he was the only one. We will try to find a solution. JJ did very well. He could be a solution.”

Doyle go back to Man City?

“He is going to be with us.”

Any other injuries?

“They are all okay.”

Coady?

“He did a fantastic game. He did a game exactly the way we expected. We know what he can give us. We are happy with how he performed. We are happy because we have one more person available.”

Choudhury contract?

“He deserves it. He’s going to help us. He is able to do the job we are looking for, like Ricardo is doing. He has aggression at full-back. Against Liverpool it was his best game in terms of showing and serving. He is growing and improving.”

More contracts?

“At this moment, we are focused on our season. We have time. The priority is not that.”

Quick turnaround?

“When you have one entire week to prepare, you can do different things. We can do different things to improve.”

Blackburn?

“Every time I watch the opponent, I always end thinking they are a good team. They have been unlucky, they deserve some more points. They move a lot. Off the ball, they arre aggressive, they are man to man.

I think it probably more shows that he’s not in their plans so don’t need the expense of rehabilitation. But that does still give room for optimism!
