Much more happy with the result than I am the performance.

 

Could easily have been one of those bogey games with a 1-1 draw but for a bit of individual quality.

 

Either way, another 3 points and another result ground out in 2nd gear.

The tedious moaning on the match thread is back with a vengeance then - and as usual, those responsible stop posting when we score. Loftus Road is intimate and loud and can be a tricky place to visit, particularly when sloppy and not at your best as we were today. Admittedly, Rangers have been dire, but they showed a spirit and fight and came out to play and their genuine support got behind them (like Fulham, Palace and Charlton, no tourists or plastics). 

 

Of course the commentary team are biased - the streams were from QPR TV, Nick London and Andy Sinton ffs - naturally they are fervent about their team. They gave credit where it was due, but since we didn't perform that well today there wasn't a huge amount to give. Can't believe people were even complaining about that. Jeez.

 

What a finish from Winks. KDH tireless today. Ricardo really steadied the ship when he replaced Hamza. Mavididi came into the game late, but a dip in form may result in Fatawu replacing him on the left, which clearly isn't his preference and the incoming McAteer deployed on the right again.

Maybe a bit unfair to our team back then but we did the same on our champions league run. We played against experienced, established european teams and you could see the fight our players put in right away. I've never played professional football but I played basketball at pro level and I remember being extra motivated at games we were clearly the underdogs.

There was a dappled autumnal sunlight. An ethereal glow over the Loftus Road playing surface, with the Harvest rays reflecting off the "burnt apricot" shirt of Marc Albrighton and enhancing the shimmer of the tanned legs of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, resplendent in his teeny tiny shinpads, as he deftly allowed the ball run across him on the half-turn for the 15th time.

 

And I wondered where I had seen such illuminated pulchritude before. Such warm October hues.

Also noticed that, after the Friday Leeds match, there are seven full days until the next match (@Middlesbrough, 11 Nov).

 

Time to rest, time to recover, time to train.

Absolutely love Fatawu, he's got the same energy as KDH: relentless and terrier-like. I can imagine Rodgers bringing him off for "taking too many touches", that's how exciting he is!

As a club it really feels like we're in a healing process. Rodgers is the abusive ex. I'm still not over it, but each passing game and week it gets a little easier to enjoy myself again.

I know the game was fairly open at the point of McAteer coming on but liked seeing him in the no.8 role. Hope he can have a few games there
