Get rid. If a carbon copy of Vardy with no affiliation to our club joined tomorrow, even on half his current wage, we'd be up in arms given his current (and waning) ability. He's set for life, it's not like we'd be making him homeless by not extending. Keep him on in an ambassadorial role if we must but if we keep him on in a playing capacity for sentimental reasons then we may as well offer him a lifetime contract.

Unpopular opinion - we can't offer him another big contract.

Let him go and remember him.

It would need to be a majority cut if we renew.  Club just cant afford it now sadly.

He been a great player for Leicester but he’s way past his prime. Don’t think he’s good enough for the premiership if we go up.

To be honest he isn't even setting the Championship on fire so definitely not good enough for the Premier any more.  Either the US or Saudi is his best bet if he wants another year or two but we can't afford to carry a passenger in the Premier regardless of sentiment.

Nice send off at the end of the season holding the championship trophy.

Time to move on.

Even goats don't live forever.

....one of the cups would be nice, too.

He was past it at the end of 2021-2022.

Will always ALWAYS ALWAYS be welcome back (even the Birch can't go on forever)

I won't criticize you for a fanboy post because where JV is concerned, we are all fanboys.

That said, clubs are business concerns and FFP is a thing.

I'll just repeat that Vardy is in serious decline.  We all watch the games.

We know his financial situation thanks to a certain court case in which his wife burned over a million pounds.  He needs a last payday, probably a two or three year contract in MLS or the Saudi league.  To keep him here would require 10% of the payroll for at least his 38 and 39 year old seasons.  That's a very obvious "no" for a club that has to rebuild its squad for a much, much tougher challenge next season.

She burnt her money, not his,,

I hope anyone suggesting he should get an extension receives the medical care and support they so clearly require.

Should have been packed off to a sanctuary a couple of years back, last season ought to have been more than enough to convince anyone that he is wholly unable to compete in the Prem anymore - and now he’ll be two years slower.

Whatever, there absolutely has to be a testimonial.

The Plymouth game was the afternoon where I realised time was up, when Daka came in and showed us what Vardy and Kel could and should’ve been doing. If Enzo ball is a long term project then we need youth in that position. We’ll need to go into the Prem with Daka, Cannon and a young, proven top division scorer I think.

Yep. Footballers get huge wages, to compensate for short careers, and JV has hardly been at the bottom of our pay scale. He's earnt every penny of his huge salary, but now he has to face the same challenges of life we all face (albeit with a few million behind him). Giving him extended contracts when he's no longer able to contribute at the Premier level is crazy. We need that money to pay for new players and options.
