We are awful at free kicks outside the penalty area. Not sure we have anyone like Mahrez. I probably think Fatawu should be taking them.

I agree that we have lost a threat a free kicks since Maddison left and it is a threat we could add.

 

Fatawu had quite a few long range shots when he started, but he was noticeably unsuccessful with them and you don't see that from him too much in recent months.

 

I'm interested why you picked him out for free kicks.

I'm glad someone has brought this up. No more do I get excited when we win a free kick just outside the box 😢 I feel like this is the first time in years we've been without a free kick specialist but I'm now struggling to remember who took them before maddison 🤷‍♀️ my memory is shocking

Having gone to the KP on Tuesday, my first time since 2022, that’s one concern I do have. Well two really, how ineffective we seem to be at both free kicks and corners.

We waste far too many corners and free kicks by taking them short. A lot of them come to absolutely nothing. 

 

I'd love to see Vestergaard put his foot through some when we get a free kick 25+ yards out.

Most corners come to nothing tbf, I’d rather try something different than blindly put the ball in all the time

Apparently Vestergaard has a pretty good free kick in him in training. I do remember him taking one earlier in the season and coming pretty close. Get him back on them 😆

Its a lot less common than people think to score from free kicks and corners. It doesn't help that we've been so hopeless at defending them so it looks like they're every week for other teams.
