We won't turn down £40m. He's pretty much our only sellable asset and that price is more than fair. A shame but just another cost of our poor running

Anyone pays £40 mill needs certifying as mad. If we turned it down then executions are required,

I get the financial implications of the deal with amortisation, but I can’t see how the Chelsea fans don’t kick off at having to sell home grown talent because the owners can’t stop over spending.

No more than our fans kicking off at a similar thing but we won’t be replacing kdh with close to the same level player

It’s reportedly one of the reasons why Poch fell out with the owners. It’s the modern state of football. Crazy that you can help your PSR compliance by selling a local academy lad and buying someone for the same sort of fee.

Am I the  only 1 that thinks he is way overrated by are fans.

He's a strange one because individually he often is, but the team collectively tend to play better with him in it.

26 in September as well which is a great age to sell players. Not young enough to have sold him below peak but selling him in his peak years as his value only goes down from this point.

Love KDH as a player but this is where we are at as a club and we start at the bottom again as a newly promoted PL team attempting to stay up and turn a profit by selling players for good money and hopefully making some good buys to nurture as replacements.

Mercury report.

I had a feeling this was coming. Kiernan was our most consistent player last year and has improved.

Bloody typical Chelsea would want to nick our best players.

Do you think he could go ?

KDH is good, but he's not champions league good.

For the right money if it helps our financial cause and staves a points deduction off together with the Enzo money he can go!

He really isn't good enough compared to what they have already. Just media mischief I think.

Whilst I agree, I doubt we'd be offered much more than 20m really.

I am not sure this will be possible. Need to sell him to avoid PSR breaches.

Well we could sell him to meet requirements, but that money doesnt dissapear - it will still be there when the new season's books are opened so we would definitely need to reinvest it

It won't be, we'll still get one from last years the 22-23 accounts I believe. Giving us next to no chance to survive.

I just don’t get the logic of selling Gallagher and bringing in KDH? They are such similar players and yet Gallagher has the Chelsea connection, he’s a fan of the club, the fans love him and he’s been captain of the side for the majority of the season with Reece James unavailable. Where’s the sense in selling an academy product and bringing in a left footed carbon copy?

A really stupid quirk of FFP and amortisation is that Leicester and Chelsea could basically agree to sell Gallagher and KDH to each other for the exact same fee and both clubs would "profit" this season.

Let's say we both sell for £50m and give them 5 year contracts, both players cost the buying clubs £10m this year but both clubs gain the full £50m immediately because they're locally produced players with no existing book value, so 100% profit.

So sadly this motivates clubs to sell off their own, home grown, local, iconic talent that really they should be encouraged to keep. Leicester and Chelsea would just gain similar players but they'd be doing it for the £40m transfer profit in this season's books to help with the rolling FFP windows and the holes they might be in from the last couple of years.

It's absolutely stupid but eh. That's the rules.

Fair point. I guess it all depends on how well Lord Rudders does with player acquisitions and sales and contracts. I am not exactly filled with confidence.

They have plenty better than him, he won’t improve them at all. Weight of pass is often off and has a poor touch
