I know that there is a lot of sentiment involved (understandably) but resigning Vardy is worse business than Vestegaard considering he will likely be on around  £100k p/w.

I'm not sure this is good news.

I was rather hoping he'd **** off and take Balague with him.

Disagree. Yes he had a god awful season with Brendan Bodgers but he has played well previously in the prem and had a great season in the championship.

He didn't play a single prem game last season that's not an awful season it's not being given a chance

Must be nice being able to read the article 🙄

Just listen to the WYS podcast and read Twitter like Percy does and you can write your own article.

And is 6 years older.

Vestergaard had a great season last year, he could do ok for us in the league, if he doesn't then he should be a more than adequate backup/cup player - as long as his wages aren't ridiculous giving him a new contract is fine. If we give him a new contract and don't look to add strong competition for CB then that's more of a worry.

Would like to know what the deal is on vesty - if it’s a years extension then it won’t cost us too much but if it’s a proper contract then we’ll effectively have to re sign him with a s/o fee.

so if it’s publicised on social media that we’ve given him a three  year deal on 75k then 15k/week (2.25m) could be the s/o fee portion.

Pace at the back to cover for Vestergaard lack of pace is clearly required, and let’s not try to blame just Jannik for our last EPL adventure, as we had a far bigger drain on our fortunes that season in Brendan.

Vestergaard was an integral piece of our system in the Championship, trying to replace him with someone who is equally good with the ball would be extremely difficult, you’d probably have to look at spending £30-£40 million on a centre back, there’s no chance of that happening.

But next season we simply have to surround him with pace, a new RCB & LCB are a must.

Hard agree, I think he could hold his own at Prem level in that role provided we aren't playing bomb scares next to him.

If we give Vestergaard a new contract we clearly have not learnt anything.

LCFC going into media and have purchased the rights to the Munsters.

If we could sign a 12 goal striker on loan for the year for a £3m loan fee and £40k PW week it would be seen as a good deal.

I know Vestergaard had a great season just gone but the calibre of forwards is ridiculously different from Championship to PL. He'll be criminally exposed without a world class CB next to him, which we don't and won't have.

Would much rather and happily give Vardy a new deal. Gotta remember it's not just the influence and talent on the pitch that he has. He's probably the most influential off it, too. Having him around even if he's not gonna play every game will be just as valuable.
