Same goes for these flicks of his. He's never really making himself available. He's not really showing for it. He's kinda pretending he's showing for it. And the occasions he gets it, he can't wait to get rid.  Hence this 'clever flick' routine. It ain't clever. It's his defence mechanism.

Zero physicality, zero pace. Can’t hit a donkey’s arse with a banjo. Clever layoffs around the corner is his one very niche positive attribute but he can’t move into any position quickly enough after that layoff to look for a return pass.

He did play a lovely sliding pass. 

 

He then spent the rest of the half being absolutely ****ing useless and nearly putting JJ in hospital.

To be honest, he looks like a pretty inoffensive type of bloke, probably a really nice guy. But that is clearly his problem: his lack of offensiveness translates to his play.
