Southgate is a poor tactician and he has messed up at crucial moments but the pile on which will become abusive is totally uncalled for. 
 

He’s done some very good things with the England set up. On a personal level, he must be mentally frazzled and gutted right now

Palmer would be the best choice to be given 1st 11 opportunity.  Despite he is so tall ,he can hold the ball ,ambitious and so talented. He will be big player .

Whoever the manager is, in future this is of tremendous importance, we cannot keep losing at this stage; we know Spain, we know Italy, we know Argentina, we know what they are about, we know how they do things. The only way we conquer them is bettering these moments.

Just looking back at the goals. Might be over critical here but I think Pickford has dived the wrong way for both of their goals.

8 Months ago, Switzerland were struggling. Their manager Murat Yakin brought in a new assistant who was well known for tactical play and a more modern setup. We saw the fruits of that appointment in this tournament.

 

Southgate is a very good man-manager, but tactically he's out of his depth. If he brought in someone stong in this area and listened to them, he could do well.

 

The FA should study tapes of this Spain team. England have the players to play the way they do, with Mainoo the real revelation in a player that finally can keep and turn out of pressure at the elite level. England playing in a systematic way like this Spanish team do would be a lethal force.

 

Congratulations to Spain who well and truly deserved to win this tournament. Great to watch, brilliantly coached and announcing a few players onto the world stage.
