For 100k a week I wouldn’t want to be in for him. I’m not saying we will be offering those kind of wages now but if we did I would expect it to be a player who would be best in our squad and someone to build a team around.

Well he's still got 3 years left on an (alleged) £100k p/w contract. So yes, I'd think any club wanting to sign him would have to match that.

You could get two midfielders from abroad (not sure who) for those wages and stick them on £50k a piece
