Exactly what I was thinking. They showed the Dermot Gallagher analysis on Sky of Coote refereeing the Liverpool game v Villa.

incident one: the Nunez goal - coote’s apparently didn’t think Salah was fouled in the build up - which would’ve been a bad decision had Nunez not scored BUT

Incident two - Ollie Watkins goes down in the box and Coote’s books Watkins for a foul on Konate.

He’s been utterly stupid but Liverpool fans pretending their is some bigger conspiracy is also stupid

According to Dermot, Coote said no foul and if he had blown the whistle you can guarantee the Liverpool fans would have been complaining that he should have played advantage.

If I understand the laws correctly, if he did play advantage he can go back and book the defender but does not issue a straight red under those circumstances.

Checking the laws just now.  If a player denies an obvious goal scoring opportunity that would be a red card and the attacking side takes a quick free kick then the referee issues a yellow at the next break in play.  If it were for breaking up a promising attack then no card is issued.  I seem to remember an incident earlier this season when one of our defenders did that (Faes iirc), the opposition scored and there was confusion about the lack of a card.

Legend in my book. Also apparently had a great win percentage when he's officiating our games:ph34r:.

The bloke releasing the video is just as ratty. It's like we don't treat officials as human beings. With the amount of abuse they get week in week out, I'm not surprised he feels a certain way about Klopp. Guarantee Klopp would never come out and apologise/shed light on the abuse he throws the ref's way.

He'll ask for a replay of every game Coote has ever reffed them in.

Sky were showing the Ref Watch clip about the non sending-off as part of the piece on Coote yesterday.  Seemed like they were trying to suggest a link.

Well this is unusual

"Brighton have let go the majority of their full-time recruitment scouts as part of a restructuring of the envied department that helped to earn the club £200 million in a bid to stay one step ahead of their rivals.

Telegraph Sport understands that staff at Brighton, whose owner Tony Bloom relies heavily on a secretive data model, were last week told that recruitment and the identification of players will now operate differently with three full-time scouts being dispensed with. Others may have been redeployed"

Brighton's scouting is famously crap and has been for years, this makes sense

Unsure why there's people calling for him to never ref in the Prem again. When we've had racists, those in jail etc all playing or played in the top flight. Suarez was fined and banned for a handful of games for worse. Whereas they want the ref stripped from the league?

And that's just Joey Barton.

I don't want him reffing again because he's utterly doggo at it. Pretty much every one of our games he's done has been a shit tip of decisions.

Any chance Coote takes over from Lineker on Match of the Day. He’s great in front of the camera, offers a great insight to what’s happening, his views are supported by 95% of Premier League club’s supporters.

I've seen Liverpool fans demand investigations into every decision he has made against them..

Even for games they won.

Some are now claiming a title from 2 seasons ago when the Arsenal player got away with a handball in the area at Anfield.

Being Liverpool fans I doubt they will consider maybe their manager should be less of a **** to referees if they want to get a impartial official.

Hopefully not at LCFC, but who knows..

You know what’s insane about this case was that the first complaints were made BEFORE the most recent complaints took place. So it was already within the public domain and to police knowledge, as well as his clubs, that this man is a danger, and he’s still committed another offence. Having read the accounts that are online, I have no doubts in believing his victims. A truly disgusting unnamed man at a truly disgusting unnamed club.

They must have done their own internal investigations. Don't want to be callous or cynical but I assume things like insurers, sponsors etc would all pretty much demand it?

Yet as far as I'm aware he's never even been suspended pending any kind of investigation? I know it's difficult protecting his identity if they do that but he never disappeared from their side at all did he? He just played all year last year iirc?

If you were them you'd rather the loss of earnings suit brought by Mendy to Man City than doing what they did which was compete in a title race all year with a pending rape conviction hanging over one of the most important players?

Maybe they genuinely don't think there's anything in it. Maybe I'm very naive. I dunno.

Just found the whole situation super weird.
