No but the international break has just started so now everyone immediately has to up the jibberish content by a good 28.7% minimum.

he still got hamstring injuries last season in a much less physically demanding role than the one we are asking of JJ of late, if we had the Ricardo pre injury there is no doubt in my mind he'd be in the team but sadly I think age and injuries have changed how he has to play, I'd be looking at him as an option at 6 more than FB so long as we are asking the RB to be more of a wing back.

He should have been used more off the bench though to close out games even to defend on the right wing in front of JJ.

This is why I can’t have the ‘his legs have gone’, ‘he can’t cut it at wing back anymore’ and every other pony argument against him. You’re telling me he’s regressed so much in 4 months that he can’t come on for 10 minutes and do a job? But Soumare can? Absolute drivel.

he was getting muscle injuries last season I don't think he can race up and down the wing anymore but yes he could and should have been used off the bench

Am I completely misremembering something because I swear he missed 0 games through injury last season.

Think he missed a handful mid season but nothing major, before Christmas if memory serves me right

Thought he would have been ideal to bring on the right wing when we were under it a bit. Justin was effectively being doubled on. He was also an answer to the CM problem rather than bringing Soumare.

The only reason that JJ is getting doubled up on is because we seem to be playing two left wingers. The opposition left back has acres to run into, teams are noticing this, switching play instantly going two on one.

a couple of hamstring strains where he missed a game or 2 and don't forget Enzo would rotate a lot which would have helped and that was without the physical load of being a wing back

If his legs are gone he wouldn't be on the bench or played against Walsall.

Is there any evidence at all that this isn't purely the manager having had a fall out with the player.

Bournemouth literally played two left wingers aswell in the second half!

There is zero evidence that there’s a fall out with the manager, the fact he was captain in the game against Walsall says their is clearly no fall out.

It is simply just a case of Justin is preferred there. We can argue all day about whether this is the best decision or not, but there’s no evidence that it’s anything other than a preference of one player over another.

We played 53 games last season. Riccy played in 45 of them. 39 were starts.

He picked up a slight strain away at Bournemouth in the cup and missed a few games after, but before that he was one of the players that Enzo just didn’t rotate. Was too important to how we played

There’s an argument to be had about whether he should or shouldn't be starting in front of JJ at right back this season, I think he should, but I can also see why JJ has got the nod. But for him not to have had a minute in the league, something just smells off to me

He started all those games in a less physically demanding role than the one JJ is playing at RB, with his age and injury history I don't think he can play that role now sadly, a prine Riccy would beade for it

Riccy has been captain in both cupboard games

Worth reposting. Great point, obvious to all except Cooper and his staff

A truly tactically flexible and or pragmatic manager would play him at a cm role, but cooper, despite his good talk doesn't take any risks at all.. What a shame

Or even as a direct swap for JJ. Justin was on a yellow and being run ragged by Outtara.

True, but inverted fullback isn’t an easy role, you've got to get back into defensive shape quickly or you get done on the transition. Like in the infamous Millwall and Plymouth away games.

I agree that Riccy probably doesn’t have the durability to be an attacking, raiding fullback anymore, but I’d argue that while Cooper is supposedly setting us up so that the fullback on the opposite side to the traditional winger provides the width. I’m yet to really see it consistently in practice. I’d hardly say they are encouraged to overlap. There’s still definitely an eye on getting back into shape rather than over committing

It’s all conspiracy theories obviously, but there must be something in the fact that the 3 lynchpins in terms of playing out from the back last season all find themselves out the team for more attritional type players
