Absolutely not, we simply do not have a squad of players any better than a relegation fight.  
This squad, right now is not of the quality to be midtable in this league. Thats not to say I think we couldn’t improve, but right now we have a manager who’s remit is to survive not thrive - he keeps us up, we shake hands and then we move on to the manger who can carry us forwards.

Great first 20 mins, then a sh@t 50 and then we made it count in the last 20.   overall? work to do. Thats not a great side and they got on top of us and that's  worrying ?  but then no easy games in EPL i guess, just ask Man City

On a more serious note I do worry about defending set pieces as every opposition we play seem to be free at the back post every week.

Fair result. Neither team was great.

We dominated first 8 minutes, then Ipswich had a few-minute spell, we took back control and 0-0 at half time was about right. Could have been 1-0 to us at half time. 

Second half, a great goal from Davies, a bit out of nowhere, which then put us under pressure. 
 

Ipswich looked comfortable after their goal. We looked completely out of ideas, until Phillips then did what he did for West Ham last season – goes in idiot-mode and gets himself sent off. 

From there, it was only a case of us either scoring one or two goals. 

 

I think Cooper showed during the game that he is not good enough a manager at this level. Why I'm saying that is that Burgess is not a Premier League player. We should’ve targeted him earlier. Apart from that clearance from Ayew - for which Burgess just ran in a straight line for – he looked awful. 

Showing his experience, Ayew then figured him out, played a 1-2 and scored. 
 

Looking at the results and the teams around us, I think only one of us will stay up this season. We might still both go down.

A draw might just prove to be an ok result for us.

It's a point which is ok, 3 would have been great, surely Coops has to go after that, Top cannot watch that and think this team are being coached to a decent standard, at a supposedly top Training ground, or is he just not bothered, or are we expecting too much I have absolutely no idea, all I know is if I was Top I'd expect better.

I think you overestimate the quality of this squad.

 

The most experienced players were nearly all relegated the last time they were in this league. We weren't on promotion form for the second half of last season in the second tier, with almost exactly that starting eleven. People are constantly telling us that our summer business wasn't wonderful either. And our star man is 38 in a couple of months.

 

I'm far from a huge fan of Cooper, based on what I'm seeing, and fear things will get grim at some point. But surely all of the above adds up to a not particularly good EPL side.

The saving grace is that Cooper is getting the results just about. But if there's a better manager willing to take the job I'd still make the switch.

 

We've a tough run coming up so let's see how we get on over the next few.

 

It's turning into a long old season, that's for sure.

I guess, we have to ask ourselves what we thought finishing 15th - 17th would look like? 
 

Teams that finish there have pretty bad seasons, with some bad runs and some purple patches. But they stay up.
