I just don't buy this. I like the lad. Absolute 100%er and never goes hiding.

Prepared to accept the ball under pressure, some nice cross field runs, niggles away at times at De Bruyne and Fidon,  couple of decent overlaps today and a proper Fuchs style cruncher on front of the east stand midway through second half

I get what you are saying but he is too rash, gets far too attracted to the ball and caught out of position so many times because of it, he has enthusiasm to burn but is too naive, he over committed lost out and as a consequence Man City scored the 2nd and killed us off.

He is raw and I am not sure we can afford to carry two full backs who cost us so many goals, we need alternatives as neither have any meaningful competition.

Only if his challenge is deemed to be a genuine attempt to win the ball and I don’t think Ortega’s would be seen as that.

No. If it’s DOGSO in the area then it’s a yellow card

As long as he’s made a “genuine” attempt to play the ball? Although genuine in the PGMOL’s eye is probably deemed as half movement. I think in this instance there wouldn’t have been any case for a red card due to the close proximity of the ball.

If a player is chasing an attacker down and clips his heels or tugs him back in the area, that would be a red, surely?

How's Justin given Savinho so much space? Literally completely left him.

Another one to the many Justin has cost us.

He's going to be Ward levels of responsible for our incoming relegation.

Justin was marking Bernardo, no midfielder tracked back to support the defence.

If Justin moved to cover Savinhi and the ball bounced to Bernardo he would get the same pelters.

He was left 2 on 1 and had no idea which of the 2 Stolarzcyk would parry the ball to.

in that situation he only has to follow in to clear any loose ball away not mark someone

Feel like people are massively overpaying the performance. This was a Man City team that was there for the taking and we've barely laid a glove on them.

Wasn't terrible by any means, but felt we could and should have done better.

Can certainly see shoots of positivity with Ruud though. I can always get behind a manager that learns from their mistakes and looks to always improve.

has to be a genuine attempt to play the ball. Double jeopardy doesn't count if you just foul someone with no attempt to get the ball, it's the idea that a mistimed tackle getting a penalty is punishment enough.

You cant really blame JJ for the goal today, He was marking the more immediate threat. If anyone was to blame it was Facundo for not doing the defensive side and tracking back.

Had MaAteer been playing I would have expected to see him marking the Winger. Something he's been getting better at in recent games he's played in.

Daka having quite a long convo with Haaland, while Winks having quite a convo with Pep. Wonder what's that all about lol.

Yeh I think it’s the genuine attempt part that means GK’s will usually get away with a yellow when it comes to DOGSO.

It wasn't a disgrace of a performance in isolation, but there are two problems with it. The first is Man City are genuinely poor, and I thought they were pretty poor for large parts of that game too. They're extremely vulnerable. You can see why they've struggled. The other is you don't get free hits when you've lost at home to Wolves. Somewhere this needs making up - and today was an opportunity.

Poor recruitment in the summer has cost us again. Lots of money we spent in the summer don't get in our side - while we're having to name that defence.

Urgent action needed in January but you just know they'll dally as ever. We should have a signing in for Villa, but we won't.

They aren’t poor though are they? They’re in a rough patch but they certainly aren’t poor. It’s something we need to stop looking too much into, as I’ve said, they’ve not lost to anyone around us bar United, they’ve drawn to Everton but beaten everyone else….. they’re still a world class team littered with talent, to even try and suggest this was a chance we had to take is stupid, all today does, is just highlight how abysmal that Wolves result was……

We have to take the positives from today’s game, and then go to Villa, are there to be got when they’re not on it themselves…… the lads will take confidence from that, on another day, a couple of those chances go in off the post, and Buonanotte gets a touch we could have had a couple of goals.

I have no issue with today's performance. We looked like a team and worked hard for each other. Forgetting the goals which could have been handled better for sure... Is RVN the answer? No idea, but I don't think we would perform like that under Cooper (too negative). More importantly, RVN seems to be learning from mistakes. BEK is becoming a serious player, but what definitely works, is playing him and FB. I think there is hope for the rest of the season. Last note... Soumare, finally, consistanly playing well. Just my opinion and how I see it.

It was refreshing to see us play out of some tight spaces rather than panic and lose possession. Shows we're working towards something at the very least. Under Cooper it never felt like we had a style to aspire to. There will be bumps along the way for sure but it's too early to say whether it'll work out or not

Mavididi was honking … it’s quite impressive to be worse than James Justin these days

The irony here is, that he was better today than hes been for a while

Man City's run has included defeats to Bournemouth who are in great form, Brighton before their poor run, Liverpool and Aston Villa away. The 4-0 against Tottenham was ridiculous and the Man United defeat was a late turnaround. They even beat flavour of the month Notts Forest 3-0.

They are nowhere near their recent best but still a good side who should beat us. Better teams that we have had have played much worse in recent years.

We have a terrible habit of not picking players up in and around the box. Haaland was the only MC player in the box for their goal and nobody marked him. This has happened so many times this season. I’d have expected tant to improve with Coady as he’s meant to be an organiser. Crominal stiff from pros

We need more quality wide options.
