This would be great for us. Get some money, keep 2 very solid championship CBs and more playing time for Nelson.

Having just sold their cb to Newcastle for €35m.

 

We signed Okoli for around £12m on 5 year deal.  Ideally we'd want more than what we paid, but book value wise anything more than £10m is PSR profit.

People were bleating on in the summer that our centre back partnership must be Nelson and Okoli and now after one game of Lurch and Kristy scoring they've become Beckenbaer and Baresi in the eyes of our fans

I'm not sure where this figure comes from. I'm led to believe the deal was €8m rising to €13m with add ons. I'd be surprised if any of the add ons have been met as yet.

I'm still a bit unsure on Okoli, however I would say he's not one of the high earning / low output players I was hoping we could get rid of.

 

If AC Milan really are in for him, I'd imagine he'd walk there if he had to. Great move for him.

Was fully of the opinion we should be running with a partnership of Okoli and Nelson this season…. But since Sunday I’ve remembered that cbs have to be able to pass and progress the ball in the championship playing for us against the constant low block we’re going to be facing most weeks!

 

with that in mind he’s probably the worst option we have so hopefully Milan cough up the cash and we bank a few more quid

At the same time if he's done his Achilles twice, there's no necessity he ever comes back

I've consistently wanted him to play and I think he could be good for us. But equally, if there's only one CB spot up for grabs (assuming one of Faes/Vestegaard will play), then move him on as to not block Nelson's development.

Unfortunately, both better defenders than Okoli at this level. See two years ago for your evidence - nothing to do with performances against after the weekend I never once bleated that Okoli should play this season.

Also the more the other donkeys go, that might mean there is less chance of us letting Fatawu, BEK & Winks go, who look like they will drive the team this season and 2 of them next.

No way. Faes is perfectly good at this level but he's nowhere near good enough for the PL. Okoli is also plenty good enough at this level plus he's got potential to be a lot better (whether he hits that is a different matter).

Never fully convinced on Okoli, potential to be a dominant centre back but a good chance it doesn’t quite happen.

 

Think we’d need to replace, at least short term, and can’t see us spending anything so maybe Alfie Gilchrist on loan?
