If the club had been transparent with the fans,  retained all our players and recalled others from loan to fight for a place, I'd be slightly less annoyed at this.

The fact that we are in a relegation scrap and we have weakened our squad is self-sabotage like I've never witnessed. However it does make me cling on to the hope we at least have some loan signings coming in from abroad.

If we don't, then I'm clueless as to what is going on. We may as well have just retained Cooper and let him get on with it, at least in the process saving us some money in binning him off.

The guilt and shame those running the club feel must be debilitating. Imagine slowly realising that every decision you make is destroying an institution. Almost don't blame them from hiding away from all exposure/criticism/decision making. Just let the club sleepwalk into an abyss. Perhaps no one will notice

I genuinely think we're hoping Man City might come in for Mads today (OP-A point 1)

But there is just no way that we'll sell Mads,  identify targets, negotiate, agree a price, and get them here for a medical in the next 15 hours. Rudkin can work on one deal at a time and take 2 weeks to do it.

Nothing will happen.

What joke of a club we are!

I can’t believe that Top and co can’t see we need to spend to save our season. We aren’t even trying - what message is that sending our players and more importantly the fans!😡

I reckon we're gonna buy LOADS of players today.

Really good ones too.

On sensible contracts.

I should add that I'm totally insane and a complete idiot.

Oh I agree.... to be honest, given the four areas of the squad we needed to target, we should have been actively canvassing Man City to take mads at the start of the month, so that we could strengthen elsewhere this month. As much as I don't want him to go, the goalkeeper isn't going to be the difference maker this season, even he couldn't stop the carnage on Saturday.

Chelsea will potentially come for Mads, considering how Shit Sanchez is.

I'd say Man City have more of a need? Ederson is broken and Ortega is useless.

IN:
• We sign Latte Lath for £20m, but Rudkin faxes one bit of the paperwork to the wrong number and the Premier League's signing deadline is missed, so the striker will be ineligible to play until the end of the season.
• Rudkin boasts privately to journalists (to ensure the story gets out) that he is signing a promising Greek CB who has just made his breakthrough in the national team. Turns out it is in fact (thanks to a "misunderstanding" and confusion over a similar name) Mickey Demetriou, the 34-year-old Crewe defender.

OUT:
Bilal el Khannous is allowed to leave on a free and joins Liverpool due to what is described as a "miscommunication". An enquiry into what happened will be launched "in due course".

My highlight of January was the swathes of people in the Cannon thread saying “sell him to finance new January deals” like the powers that be were ever to be trusted to do anything of the sort.

Genuinely we are signing no one. Media have been briefed to say don’t expect any activity at the club.

1000%. OPA and Tanner have definitely had Anthony Herlihy on the blower this morning.

Absolutely comical to suggest otherwise, don't know why we bothered to sign Woyo, should have been 0 transfers this window.

Incompetence of the highest degree.

Not only are we likely to be left with a weaker squad than when we started the season but we are likely to be left with a squad considerably weaker than the side we had in the Championship last season.

Heads need to roll.

The crazy thing is at this point we’d of been better off recalling him and actually using him.

The irony of this. Arguably the two biggest PSR breachers and they can come and take our.prize asset and not a thing will be said or done.

Absolutely astonishing. What's changed from 2 months ago I wonder? Surely we haven't been blindsided by PSR again or accidentally misled our manager, we must be the unluckiest club in the world for unforeseen occurrences.

We've been told most of the month it would likely be overseas loans which unless you're the pits at negotiating like us (see Edouard) shouldn't be too costly.

It is interesting Swiss Ramble predicted we could probably afford to lose around -79m this season and still hit the PL PSR limit for the 3-year cycle end 24/25.

At the moment, if you assume we will roughly make the same income from commercials (Matchday, Broadcast, etc.) as the last relegation season (22/23) and guess wages and the other things you can work out pretty accurately, like amortisation and income from player sales, we should have some headroom.

Even if you crank wage up to a hideous 160m, which is only 30m less than 22/23, we should have 10m headroom easily.

Even if we got relegated we would still be in an ok position to meet the Championship P & S limit of -61m for the 3-year cycle ( 1 x PL season 2 x Champ season limit).

The only conclusion I can draw is we still have a massively hideous wage bill worse than the 160m I mentioned, all the squad remaining from the PL seasons will have been bumped back up to their PL wages, and the likes of Winks and Coady have had stupid clauses giving them similar wages,  we have then resigned Ndidi, Vardy and Vestergaard on decent PL wages, add to the likes of Ayew, BDCR and Skipp on crazy PL money and paying off Dooper.
