As I expected. Even with ten men the game was too close for them to rubber stamp the result.

You can't blame Ipswich. The ref called it off and a panel has given this decision.

The amount of Ipswich fans defending the decision on social media is wild, I would hope our lot would have a bit more consideration to how much Blackburn have been shafted (before anyone says we'd be the same).

Nailed on an Ipswich win in the replay.

Lets rig the KP so the pitch floods if we’re 1 down with 10 to go, then we can replay it in full

They would set a precedent with us though and not offer a replay then revert back for any other game thats called off afterwards.

nah come on, they was still winning 1-0 against 10 men

and was incredibly comfortable as well

was like a 99% probability of them winning it at the time

99 is insane. On the same day Sunderland played 60 mins with 10 men and came from 1 0 down to draw with Villa.

The sporting thing to do is for Ipswich to give them a 1 0 lead. But a full replay is the fairest solution.

The suggestions of a 10 minute are ludicrous haha

Found a Guardian article from a number of years ago that looked into the effect of red cards on games nowadays vs way back when.. it generally said that in cases where teams were trailing and then had a man sent off, teams only came back to draw or win the game 11% of the time.. but this dropped to about 5% when through 80 minutes.

So I think teams coming from behind whilst being a man down is more an exception to the rule, rather than the norm… but then obviously gets a lot more attention as it’s an implausible task.

It's crappy luck on Blackburn's part but as already mentioned there was only one goal in it. And it's not as if 10 men have never scored against 11 before, on the break or a set-piece.

As expected and probably the only fair thing to do.

But I'll be disappointed if Ipswich don't let Blackburn score from kick off ala us vs. Forest after Clive Clarke's heart attack.

Giving anything other than a full rematch would have opened up a world of technicalities and the like. It was the easy decision based on the future situations.

Can't believe anyone is remotely surprised that Ipswich have got this decision.

They're like the Liverpool of the Championship, and I don't mean quality wise.

Luckiest club in world football.

I don't think it's a surprising or awful decision as suggested here. There's 10+ stoppage to go, Ipswich might have fancied a point there in the circs. Agree that just replaying the last 10+ may have been preferable, but I can see why they've just gone this route.

Definitely a filip overall for Ipswich but it does mean they effectively have an extra game and have Greaves out for 3 still. So not al positives.

The scenario of just playing the remaining time including the accrued additional time behind closed doors is actually quite common in other countries. It's not perfect but I think it is the best solution.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked anyone thinks this isn't the best solution. Blackburn with about a 95%+ chance of a win just stolen.

Really the only solution. You just know that one of these two teams will be within a couple of points of their season being different come the end of it.

Guarantee something happens in this game that will put that decision under even more scrutiny

Whatever it is will only benefit Ipswich.
