funkyrobot Posted 25 February Posted 25 February Hopefully Ruud will start Coulibaly at right back who’ll look good going forward - combine him with a winger who isn’t able to help defensively and then take him off at half time to boost his confidence and replace him with the left sided centre back who’s ‘kicking’ every ball like it’s a grenade just about to explode. It worked well against Brentford. 👍🏻 1 2

deep blue Posted 25 February Posted 25 February Just now, deep blue said: Mads JJ Coady Vesty VK Ndidi Soumare Bilal McAteer Buenanotte JV is our starting XI that somehow beat West Ham 3-1 earlier, under Ruud, I think. How did we manage that? Even Daka came on and scored later. Could we repeat it with a similar side? Notable the CB pairing; not tried for a while. Just looking at that team, you could arguably improve on that now with Coulibaly at RB, and maybe even McAteer or VK replaced, but for me the key ingredient is Coady & Vesty as the CB pairing. Hard to see how that worked, and I think it's hardly been tried since, but obviously it did work in that game so why not try it again?

It didn’t work, we conceded a record number of shots on target in the home match against West Ham. They left with an xG of something like 12. It was a miracle that they didn’t score five or six, I think Mads played a blinder and they hit the post multiple timez
Sly Posted 26 February Posted 26 February Coulibally is every bit a liability at right back as Justin is. This will be another 3 or 4 - 0 drubbing. 2
Aus Fox Posted 26 February Posted 26 February The simplest of solutions is moving to 3 at the back! I can’t believe in this shit show of a season across two different managers we haven’t at least tried it. With the CBs and Full backs available it makes the most sense to me. 3

Think he needs to learn discipline as soon as possible or, with Faes, we'll be playing games with two bomb scares in the back four.

I genuinely still think we would concede multiple goals. The players are riddled with mistakes and calamity. We should still absolutely be trying.......something

Our whole defence is a bomb scare, let's be honest. With don't have a reliable defender in the squad 1
Tommy Fresh Posted 26 February Posted 26 February We're conceding regardless, so let's try and give them something to be mindful of, play our best attacking players and try to actually score 1
Haywood_6 Posted 26 February Posted 26 February All I’ll say is that if Soumaré plays again, RVN clearly hasn’t looked back at the match. He was directly responsible for two of Brentford’s goals. He’s so bad 4

Vestergaard, Justin and Coady would all be better in a 3. It’s not ideal, and we don’t have any quality in that back line, but we do have to try something different. 1
Happy Fox Posted 26 February Posted 26 February 4-2-3-1 Mads Justin Coady Okoli / Vestegaard Kristiansen Ndidi Winks Facundo Bilal Mavididi Daka That would be the team I would go for.. 2

Not only that but it gives us the chance to get an extra striker / player up top. Hopefully helping to solve both problems

I was amazed Cooper didn't do it, given the fact he previously loved to try different tactics every game. I'm not even a tiny bit surprised Ruud hasn't, he is Dutch, he is stubborn and they only have one way of playing football, we will play 4-3-2-1 the entire time he is here. I think my main dissapointment is he came in and showed off the 3 box 3 in that West Ham game, and then it just dissapeared into thin air

Gazza M Posted 26 February Posted 26 February I think it is clear from reading this that there are 2 or 3 different formation options we could go down. It is beyond me why we don't try it at least once. Same old again tomorrow then I would expect low chances created and being vulnerable to those direct balls over the back 4's head again.
Tommy G Posted 26 February Posted 26 February Pretty confident about this one - transferred in Bowen, Wan Bissaka and Potter on the assistant manager chip on FPL so expecting a god thrashing, fingers crossed.

MrsJohnMurphy Posted 26 February Posted 26 February Mads Coulibaly Vesty Okoli Coady Justin (if fit) Winks Ndidi Bilal Vardy Facundo 1

No Stevie Wonder in midfield, dad’s army attackers and Barry Chuckle at the back and we might not lose to our own mistakes. JJ would be fine if he isn’t involved in any attacking build up as the PTSD kicks in when he looks forward and has to pass back. 1
