The lies about the away ticket collection in Europe and the lies about the cup final coach travel were red flags.

Football wise I think the first real sign that the club was in danger because of them was allowing Rodgers to talk them into employing Congerton. That, allied with giving him an insane contract off the back of minor media chatter that he could potentially be a candidate for the Arsenal job, we've never recovered from.

There were shite decisions before that of course but all mostly excusable or at least understandable given the circumstances, apart from the various Rudkin blunders like Adrien Silva going unpunished, but these weren't existential threats in the same way.

What were these fibs?

The managerial recruitment process has always been toss. We were well ran up to 15/16 because Pearson’s appointments were in place still.

There is no strategy if any success or lack of it comes down to individuals. The well run clubs across Europe have a level of alignment across departments that transcends individuals.

Our successful recruitment happened under Walsh and Macia, under everybody else it’s about a 20% hit rate.

I have no problem with Vichai making mistakes - he rectified nearly each one. Did he get lucky at times ? Of course. The biggest luck wasn’t Pearson, it was Ranieri. He stuck by Pearson when a large percentage of us would’ve had him out. That deserves credit in itself.

Top taking over never sat right with me. From the start. He’s achieved nothing despite his father doing everything he could possibly do to get him ready. He just thrown it back in his face. The moment I realised this ownership wasn’t great was the Maguire sale - they did exactly what we thought would be bonkers. Sold Maguire who was on his way out all summer and made a bid for Ake - it was like guys, why are you waiting this long to make contact. The Bennett transfer the following Jan was equally worrying.

Before then, it was the 2016 window. What the **** were we doing. Spend spend spend. Shit shit shit. I think it was Walsh who said, he like Slimani for £13m max. We paid £30m but look at the way we rectified it. Brought in Macia and had a few quality windows thereafter.

I don’t think I could ever understand the hero worship of owners of the club, respect, fine. But some people would sell their mothers for them.

Top is out of his depth but wants to walk around like the seasoned billionaire owner - he doesn’t have the class, intelligence, experience or ability for it. With Whelan being an over promoted under qualified ceo, who let’s be Frank is an insult to the fantastic female business leaders around the world, we are screwed. Rudkin, don’t get me started.

The critical decision that lead to the situation we are in now was allowing Rodgers to rip out all the infrastructure that created our success in the first place.

That was the turning point for me.

The arrogance of breaking from the model that had served us so well (ie buy raw talent with a high ceiling and sell to reinvest).

A club like ours cannot sustain when “established signings” on big money and big contracts don’t work out. Unlike top 6 sides who can accommodate a few bad big money signings, it is simply too risky for us and getting it wrong consistently screwed us big time. And then when they didn’t work out, the good players we had woke up and realised it was only a matter of time before we declined - which they then accelerated by running down their contracts.

I always wonder what it would have been like had sensible people like Steve Walsh stayed. He knew what he was doing and knew the profile of player that fitted the model.

Not going to lie, I probably did let a lot of things go that would have seriously pissed me off if it wasn't for the success.

So for me, it was when the rot had truly set in under Rodgers and they refused to change it but continued to back him blindly. We were bad, but we still could've turned things around at that point and regrouped to go again. Instead we've set ourselves back to the start of the King Power era.

I don't think their intentions are bad, and they're probably wondering why we fans are ungrateful bar stewards.  But for me, it's the flip-flopping and lack of decision-making in decisive moments that has led to this freefall.  Top needs to hand over the running of the club to someone competent and not get involved in the minutiae, the best managers and owners are those who delegate and let those beneath work their magic.

Never really got over them parading the PL trophy round themselves with a picture of the Thai King behind them, rather than leaving it to the players and the manager.

I absolutely HATED that they did this. They completely ruined the celebrations

Claimed it was UEFA protocol (it isn't) and a Government stipulation (it wasn't).

KP themselves clearly knew nothing about either but it typifies the culture at LCFC under them. Zero respect for fans or the truth.

Basically made it easy for themselves at the cost of the fans.

Not entirely sure I agree that pre Vichai was quite as bad as mentioned by some in here but there have always been red flags around self interest.

I’ve been clearing out a few old programmes recently and it’s strange seeing the owners faces on the programmes of key events. First game back in the Prem, Title Win, Great Escape etc etc.

I actually didn't mind them celebrating the successes on the pitch within moderation, it's consistent with the spirit of togetherness etc. I'm pretty sure the players invited Top to join them on the pitch for the FA Cup.

Clearly the King of Thailand stuff was pure guff though and Top's behaviour last season was disgraceful.

Didn't Arsenal make an official approach?

In hindsight the turning point was obviously the passing of Vichai. I can remember thinking at the time that everything was about to implode, but we rode the storm for a short period which allayed my fears slightly.

Agree 100% with @ealingfox, the moment they handed Rodgers that new contract so soon into his tenure completely screwed us. The fact he refused to distance himself should have been a red flag, and in all honesty they should have let it play out as it was so early on that he hadn't really achieved anything of note at that stage. We could easily have replaced him too as we'd have got a sizeable fee from Arsenal had he departed. The fact we rewarded his behaviour with a long term contract on ridiculous terms set the tone for what was to come.

Congerton was the icing on the cake, should never have been allowed anywhere near the club.

Not firing Rodgers sooner was in my opinion, a complete failure of leadership. It was obvious to literally everyone that things had gone stale and we needed a new person in charge. The lack of thinking since then has been pretty alarming - going from Enzo to Cooper was TERRIBLE idea. And then hiring RVN who let's be honest (is a complete novice) and not suited to a team battling relegation. It's just mistake after mistake.

When our beloved leaders didn't remove Rodgers following our disastrous start to the 2022/23 season. Just one win and five points from a possible thirty should have set the warning lights bright red but they persisted with him and the rest is history.

So they demand Pearson gets sacked before they even come in. Appoint Sousa. Get Sven with us languishing bottom. Spunk an incredible amount irresponsibly to dangerous levels (sounds familiar that) then go and get Pearson back (on recommendation from Alan Birchenall), who in turn manages to install just about every foundation for the success we have.

Can I get an example of where any of the great decisions were made at board level?

I don’t think l’ll ever win with you. For me I’m glad the last 10yrs have happened and I’m very thankful to the owners. As we are now though something has to change.

I suppose it depends on your definition of good! Most owners or football clubs are Crooked and are Laundering dirty cash through the books, like at Forest where they have an International drug trafficker as their owner.

They have also done a lot of good for the club and without them we wouldn’t have had the good times but the bad decision making frankly makes them bad owners from a fan perspective and that includes their knowledge of anything to do with football.

For me though I think their appointment of managers from day 1 had always made me think they are bad owners as they are heavily reliant on guesswork, Jon Rudkin and Susan Whelan. One who is over promoted and the other who treats football fans like customers at a Duty free shop!

The visible security presence that Top has round him and the unnecessary additional showsec security goons introduced 3/4 seasons again along with the grass line and heavy handed stewarding highlights the selfishness and that they are not for the fans!
