It highlights he recorded the most defensive actions of our centre backs which doesn't come as a huge surprise given he played by far the most minutes, over 1000 ahead of Coady and more than Okoli and Vestergaard combined. If you measure it per 90 minutes then he doesn't come out on top in any category.

Faes, like most players last season, was completely shit. But I don't believe he's a shit player. He's our most comfortable centerback on the ball and in a high press is extremely capable for interceptions. 

 

I think this forum needs a reality check. If he stays he'll be starting ( and he should ). 

I would start him in front of Nelson and Okoli as he has proven himself to be a premiership level defender and a Belgium international ( no matter what this forum stays )

He’s another one along with Vesty, Winks, JJ, Wilf, maybe Mavididi and probably Skipp who we know will be a cut above in the Championship but not quite good Prem standard. If he goes for a decent fee and we move his wages on then great, if he stays and plays this season then also great imo.

I couldn’t disagree any harder.

 

Pipes calls him out almost every week for having a shocking attitude, almost goes as far to say that he likely thinks he’s much better than he is.

 

Having ended my (Sunday league standard) football as a CB, he would be a nightmare as a partner as has brain fart, after brain fart.

 

Nelson should be one of the first names on the team sheet, let alone CB.

He's just naturally not good enough and never will be for the top level..

Again it's worth checking out what Belgian fans and their media think of him - ie. he's not very good

I agree, he is more than capable but lacks consistency due to his rash/poor decision making which is the reason he will never be an elite level defender. Rarely will he ever be an 8/9 out of 10 as he will always have at least one or two utter brain farts in a match.

Seems I’m not the only one who thinks this is a bad call.

 

Absolutely shouldn’t be in front of Nelson. Nelson has a higher ceiling and a much better attitude and will want to play for us. He is the future. Why would you want to play someone who couldn’t give a f*** and wants to leave, even thought nobody else in the football world seemingly wants him!

I don’t disagree and he’s not prem quality but I’m still of the opinion he’d be in the top 10 defenders in the championship.

He has literally proven that he is not a premiership level defender in our first relegation season and in case anyone might have missed it he did it all over again last year.  You even say he was shit yourself.

 

And about as likeable as herpes to boot.

He’ll most likely start the season as first choice, alongside Vestergaard. I’d anticipate if we play with a three, the other centre back will be Okoli.

Guessing he's on a smaller wage after relegation, so we're more likely to find buyers willing to take his salary on (probably still on way too much), but if we go up he'll be harder to shift.

I just can't wait to see the back of him. 

 

I'd genuinely take a defender with less ability (when he's having a rare decent game) purely so I didn't have to put up with seeing his face on my day off.
