20m doesn’t seem a great deal does it. I’d be happy with 25 but for someone with his potential 20 feels like one we will regret down the line

I'd want some very decent add ons and future % included which we always seem to agree to when purchasing but never when selling.

25m would probably put him in the top 25 goalkeeper transfers of all time.

I think it's a decent price with the right add ons.

We should be pushing for free loans from any prem side we do business with!

Harrison Ashby played under Marti for example.

Antonio Cordero who they’ve just signed would be a good RW option.

If he goes to West Ham, George Earthy was handy for Bristol City last season, exactly the energy we need in our flat CM!

Loans would work well, and completely acceptable for this season. We must still be seen as a bigger pull to any other in the championship. Get a few loans to cover us this year, sell a few and PSR position will be at least be healthier.

There has to be some talent at Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal that would really benefit from a season with us.

20m isn’t enough but given our position and desperation it’s expected.
we could have had 25+ if we’d waited till next summer and done the loan with obligation but everyone knows we need to get money in now.

a properly run club would have been putting mads into other clubs and agents minds last autumn when he was performing well.  Teams plan for the future - they don’t make knee jerk decisions come the summer window.  We needed to be marketing him when his stick was high and we might have got a few clubs interested with maybe an extra 5m.    No doubt we weren’t thinking about relegation last autumn - too arrogant for that.   West Ham under potter is a good fit for him. No doubt when he took over there they marked mads as a target.  otherwise we might be scratching around to get 15m!

We may need to adjust expectations in this

Manuel Nueur went for €30m
Bernd Leno went for €25m

If he was starting for Denmark he’d be £40m easily. Just that pesky ghost standing in his way!

Neuer wasn't a Prem sale which we know automatically adds pants down tax.

And that is somewhat proven by Leno, who subsequently flopped at Arsenal and went to Fulham for about 1/10th of that...

A shame to see him go and I would’ve hoped for a little bit more but we have no choice and need to move at least 1 player on for a decent fee to fund the rest of our business

I just hope we have a decent sell on clause in the deal because he will definitely get a big move from West Ham

Pickford went for €28.5m then, English and Premier League tax, but it was 2017….

He’s probably going to be in their first team plans this season but Freddie Potts on loan would be great

What year? Are you talking about 7 years ago and 14 years ago?

Hope you are right about Mads worth  :)

(We could surely do with it)

Does feel like a set up for further outrage when he goes for €20m though.

The Internet and they are top ten transfers for goalkeepers. They are old, no recent keeper has come close. Which should tell you home much keepers go for.

There's not really too much use using past transfers as barometers a lot of the time.  Kepa is the most expensive goalkeeper and he's gone to Arsenal for £5mill, probably as second choice.  Onana cost €50mill and Utd probably want rid.  Chelsea bought Petrovic, Jorgenssen and Sanchez all for around €20mill each but none of them are seen as the number 1 going forward, with Petrovic going to Bournemouth for a profit.  The market isn't solely based on player ability or even perceived ability.  Buying clubs desperation to buy, parent clubs desperation (or lack of) to sell, competition for the player, availability of similar options at the time.  You can pull figures out your arse really.

Petrovic/Pickford/Ramsdale for £25m is classed as the 11th-13th highest fee for a goalkeeper.

Yet no contemporary goalkeepers have touched the top ten, despite how prices must have inflated, but you still suggest our goalkeeper should be in that list?

This just gives people an excuse to moan when he does not go for a fantasy figure.
