I'm fed up of this club. Reject bids for years for piss poor players who never play, but sell our best players on the cheap. This will drastically change how we play now (or just make us far weaker).

Poor fee however we try to spin it to convince ourself it's decent.  IF he stays fit, he will go on to be a very successful keeper, although always a chance that one big injury leads to another (see Maddison).  I don't buy the poor negotiation position argument - maybe to a small extent.  A proven goalkeeper who is extremely comfortable with their feet and a good shot stopper is very difficult to find, and very sought after in the modern game.  You can't ignore other keeper transfers this Summer - we've known all along Potter was interested, his keeper coach knows Mads and their style of play suits them.  They would have gone higher if pushed I'm pretty certain.

All that to one side, these kinds of deal just reinforce in my mind how inadequate PSR is and how all it does is protect the big clubs.

Always felt he was a bit Kasper Schmeichel esque in as much as he'd make some absolute wonder saves but then let in goals which a keeper at that level should really do better with..

Main difference being, Mads has much better distribution and a lot more potential.

I think West Ham have got themselves a cracking deal there with almost certain profit to be had in the future.

Still surprised he didn't end up at Chelsea much earlier in the window given his style of play & Enzo's rating of him.

West Ham have got a steal there. And to think we paid £12m years ago for Ward. Can we throw in Rudkin for free.

I rate Stoly but we must be really desperate to let him go for £18m. I just hope that means we get to keep the likes of BIlal and Abdul.

A players only worth what a clubs willing to pay. There's been a few gks moving around this summer, yet nobody has come in for him. I think we factored Mads leaving and would've hoped for 20-25M, but this late in the window, we've just had to take what we get.

Buying Skipp for 20 mill and selling Mads for 18 mill makes me want to throw up

Its mad that he's only going for 5.5m more than we paid for Ward but what can you do, we need money to buy players in more vital positions.

There may well be an element of Marti saying he wants a few key players in and it was thought better to get this deal done for a few million less and get Cifuentes targets in rather than hardball it, keeps Mads but have Marti frustrated at not getting his men in.

That's how I'm spinning it anyway.

Who gives a fxxk about "winning" the transfer window?

A good keeper is such a key position for any club. I wouldn’t trust the recruitment team to reinvest that and get any other players at such a bargain fee. I still have Skipp nightmares.

That fee does not bode well for the desperation of our financial position does it, should have been pushing 10m ish more that that with add ons included. Must be a bit desperate…

Rodgers didn’t buy Ward. That would have been the great Claude Puel who is now being raved about by our fans

I know people love to moan about the club, but in isolation, this is a fairly high fee for a goalkeeper, especially with his experience.

Get you can state his potential which is high, but also his injury record.

Seems a touch low, but non English keepers don’t go for the figures being dreamt up.

Get a bloody striker.

If we needed to raise £25 million and save 150k a week on wages we’ve done that with the coady, ndidi and Hermansen going. Hopefully puts us in okay position to say not to any bids for BEK and we can sped 5/10 mill on a couple of players on no more than 20k a week.

True, but Rodgers was happy to drop Kasper and play Ward in front of him. Puel bought him as back up. Rodgers wanted him to be our number one keeper. And anyway, Rodgers deserves shit for buying Ward, even if he didn't!

Exactly what I think.

Ideally we’d get more money but people complained when youri left for free.

It’s not desperation as such, we need some money to refresh a little, it’s profit.

Potential to be great but let’s move one.

Apart from a striker, I would hope instead of buying, we'd look at the loan market (I think we can have 4). Toby Collyer would be a great addition in midfield.

The fact Chelsea, desperate for a goalkeeper for a long time, have never come in for him, should tell people a lot.

I think by the time both their careers end he and Jakub will have achieved similar at club and international level.

Personally looking forward to Jakub getting his chance, he loves the club and the city, which is something we lack in general.
